Actor Brett Gelman will play a new character called Murray Bauman in the new episodes.
Stranger Things has added another new actor to its season two cast.
Brett Gelman, best known for his roles in Fleabag and Blunt Talk, will play a character called Murray Bauman in the new episodes.
According to Variety, Bauman is “a disgraced journalist-turned-conspiracy theorist who is investigating a cold case in the small Indiana town”.
Gelman joins five previously-announced new additions to the season two cast. Ths Goonies‘ Sean Astin, Aliens‘ Paul Reiser and Danish actress Linnea Berthelsen have all landed roles.
Australian actor Dacre Montgomery, soon to be seen in the Power Rangers reboot movie has joined the cast too, alongside child actress Sadie Sink.
Season two will feature nine episodes, one more than the first. It will launch on Netflix at a date in 2017 which has yet to be announced.
In addition, two of season one’s recurring characters, Joe Keery’s Steve and Noah Schnapp’s Will Byers, have been upgraded to series regulars for season two.
“We’ll be doing more than just a rehash of season one,” the show’s executive producer Dan Cohen said recently. “We’re coming back with a few new characters, expanding storylines and mythologies, so it’ll feel like the stakes are raised and more is going on and really delivering on the promise and pushing for more.”
