Liam Gallagher explains so-called “truce” with Noel

"I had a couple of drinks and thought, you know, I’ll put it out there"

Liam Gallagher has admitted that his so-called “truce” with brother Noel was “in my head” and that he had been “looking for a bit of trouble”.

Speaking to NME in this week’s magazine, out nationwide today (February 16), the former Oasis frontman described how the brothers continue to be, in his words, “not in a good place”.

Despite tweeting last December that the siblings were “all good again”, Liam has now revealed that that wasn’t actually the case and that they’ve “not made up” at all.

“In my head [we called a truce],” Liam told NME. “‘Cos it’s Christmas innit and me mam’s always going, ‘Look, calm down,’ so I had a couple of drinks and thought, you know, I’ll put it out there. But it’s not happening, is it?”

Responding to a rumour that the brothers had patched things up at swanky London hangout Chiltern Firehouse, Liam said: “No, no – I went there and he wasn’t there. He wasn’t meant to be there, but that’s where him and all his posh mates go, so I thought I’d steam down there and see what they gotta say.”

“I just went down there looking for a bit of trouble and that but there was none of ’em about,” Liam explained. “They were all probably at home, counting their money.”

Elsewhere in the NME interview, Liam revealed that he is set to start work on his second album in April and that it will be “more up-tempo”, “more in-yer-face” and “less apologetic”.

Speaking about the follow-up to his debut solo album ‘As You Were’, Gallagher said: “I’d love to do a proper out-and-out punk rock album – a bit Pistols, a bit Stooges. I can do that gear; I can definitely sing ’em. “

“Some of the sing-y songs are a bit of a struggle when I do ’em live. But the lippy ones I can do all day long. The ones where you spit ’em out. You’re not necessarily singing, you’re just f**king screaming and shouting. I’m all for that.”
