My Chemical Romance fans protest at Daily Mail offices

Fans attack paper for 'scapegoating bands' in emo coverage

Sat 31 May, 2008

Comments (1)

Okay, I'm neither an emo or a fan of MCR. But d'you know what? In this time of absolute indie blandness from the likes of the Pigeon Detectives, Arctic Monkeys and The Enemy etc I'm SO glad that at least one band, regardless of your opinion of them or their music, has made some form of cultural impact. This protest, no matter how minor, has made it's mark in music history and will be noted upon in years to come. That, girls and boys, is what music is all about.

Sun 25 May, 2008

Erm, just copied and pasted a comment from one of the links posted above by Hurric... this is real ad verbatim...."I love the MCR. They speak to the pain that I feel inside, because no one understands. No one. I will be killing myself on May 31st to show the Daily Mail how real emoism really is."Whatever your opinion of MCR, it's irrelevant to some pretty disturbing feelings that are running rife amongst many people my age (no I'm not emo by the way). But this is seriously disturbing and I hope to god someone will comeforward to help this individual, or at least, I hope they aren't being serious. This transcends music, this is cultural, this political, this is social. Why are young people my age feeling this way... what's driving them to do things like this?

Meklemek thinks Glastonbury audiences don't like black music "unless it's James Brown". I'm not sure what he's suggesting about Glastonbury audiences (well, I do, but it wouldn't be fair for me to say that he's suggesting Glastonbury audiences are musically racist while posting on a public message board).Look at it this way. Had Prince announced he was headlining, people wouldn't be complaining like they are about Jay-Z... and the reason is...?Because his music is TERRIBLE and he represents everything that is wrong with how modern black music has sold-out.His presence has ruined the festival and I haven't bothered going this year because of it. I'm going to Leeds festival. In your face Eavis!

Free gig sounds good, but Meddick, I got to disagree dude. Radiohead are a well-established, multi-million selling act so it's understandable why they can do this and get away with it.
