Will 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' be a hit a third time?
Thu 23 Aug, 2007
It is a classic, definitely. I remember buying it on 7" in HMV as a callow 16-year-old and the bloke behind the counter going "nice one, mate". And it made me strangely proud.

The bands go inside to raise awareness of male suicide...
Mon 27 Aug, 2007
Very strange gig all in all. It was like going to your firstr gig and not knowing what normally happens. The inmates were sat down through out until the end, but they were cheering like mad, especially when Anthony Rossomando said that prison should be about rehabilitation.

Absolutely fantastic band, from the Newborn EP onwards. There's not many bands that could take the atmospheric beauty of Talk Talk and rend it into some new.

Surprisingly for such an obviously bitter album, it's pretty damn good. For sheer unalloyed bitterness it's probably only matched by Shoot Out The Lights by Richard and Linda Thompson

The ex-Beatle tried to get Thom Yorke to sing with him
Tue 13 Nov, 2007
"He said he couldn't because he only felt happy working on his own and Radiohead's material."
That's right, Macca. Never works with no-one else. Not ever. Oh. No. That PJ Harvey duet you may have heard about couldn't have happened. Just a rumour. Oh then there's that mythical Bjork duet. And Venus In Furs. And UNKLE. And Sparklehorse... over the phone. Oh and Band Aid 20. In fact is there anyone he doesn't feel happy working with apart from Sir Paul?

I'm surprised The Good Old Days didn't make it. It soundtracked some of their best moments - not to mention being the last song The Libertines ever played together in the classic formation at Club Infinity in 2004.

I might finally be able to get all those B-sides from The Bends - that are, I reckon, the best things they've ever done:
Best Radiohead B-sides from The Bends
1 Talk Show Host [probably the best thing they've ever done]
2 Bishop's Robes
3 Molasses
4 Banana Co
5 Killer Cars

The Guardian reckoned it could be Bat For Lashes on Saturday. I've got the last few years right but this year feels a little closer. I'm going to plump for Klaxons though. Mainly because I love it and it's the most original 'indie' album for years.

Will the shoegazers reform for Californian festival?
Thu 30 Aug, 2007
I really can't wait to see them. I was lucky enough to see them play on the Rollercoaster tour in 1992 at Brixton Academy. The friend I was with who was a girl nearly got punched by the biggest bloke I've ever seen, but that's another story
Jesus And Mary Chain headlined, they were very 'rock' at this time. Dinosaur Jr were pretty good. There was also a (very) drunk Blur: Damon nearly fell off the stage about five times. They did play an amazing song I hadn't heard before called 'Oily Water', but it looked like they were about to implode at any moment.
But My Bloody Valentine were amazing very very loud and yet they noise they made was strangely beautiful. They played the climax of You Make Me Realise for about 15 minutes. It was really funny watching people stop dancing one by one as they, er, realised it was a massive wall of noise.until there were only a couple of psychos still trying to gyrate.
Great gig. Can't wait to see them again
