The 'rise' was in line with global music sales - in other words the Draconian civil liberties-infringing laws have had little if any effect.

Pirate Bay closure 'caused 300 per cent increase in file-sharing sites'

Shutting the website down did not stop people illegally downloading, state experts

Tue 03 Nov, 2009

Comments (1)

This demonstrates that the music companies not only fail to understand the nature of entertainment media today, they don't understand how P2P file-sharing works either.Due to their blinkered stupidity not only are consumers suffering but artists are as well.Big Music? We're better off without it!

Lord Mandelson: 'Cutting file-sharers' connection is last resort'

Business Secretary speaks about illegal downloading

Thu 24 Sep, 2009

Comments (1)

So the unelected politician, who has twice had to resign in disgrace, wants political control over entire households' connection to the digital outside world on the basis of unsupported accusations, at a cost of millions a year to consumers?Hitler would be impressed by his nerve.

Lily Allen: 'I won't release another album'

Singer says she won't be renewing her record contract

Thu 24 Sep, 2009

Comments (1)

From TorrentFreak:While she’s trying to point out how much damage ‘pirates’ do to the music industry she blatantly infringed the copyrights of a number of newspapers by posting scanned articles. To make things even more absurd Techdirt discovered that Lily is pirating music herself by offering some unauthorized mixtapes (tape 1 and tape 2) on her website LilyAllenMusic.com. The tracklist of one of the mixtapes reveals a list of no less than 19 unauthorized tracks. This means the RIAA can easily sue her for millions. Please Lily, explain to us why it is okay for you to copy, paste and pirate others work, while you label people who do the same as thieves? Are we missing something here, or do you really think that copyright is limited to your own music? What about the poor people working at the newspapers who might lose their job because you are pasting scanned articles online? Not to mention the poor artists that ended up on your mixtape who’s lives are ruined because of your selfish actions.

Michael Jackson 'needs a lung transplant'

Biographer claims the singer is suffering from various ailments

Mon 22 Dec, 2008

Comments (1)

I have alpha-1 anti-trypsin deficiency. He'd only need a lung transplant in the unlikely case he'd inherited it from both parents, in which case he'd have been lucky to see 20. Unless you smoke or are in a dirty environment it's not going to be that bad. Sounds like more hypochondria and paranoia.

He left the country because of constant threats against him and being stabbed by Sun-reader types. Anyone who has actually been to his shows will know (right or wrong) how pro-England he is.If you don't know what you're talking about then shut the hell up and go back to fawning over Pete Doherty.
