Factory Records boss to be honoured in city centre

This is a terrible idea. I live in Whitworth St West (in the Hacienda infact) and with the greatest respect to Mr Wilson and his family, is it not enough that he is forever connected to in history to the Hacienda itself without naming one of Manchester city centres most well known streets after him?
Tony Wilson is revered amongst a certain generation for the postitive effect his club (and other endeavors) had on Manchester, but lets not lose sight of the fact that the Hacienda was a club which was held in esteem by drug addled eHeads loved-up class-A euphoria. I'd be a hypocrite to condemn people enjoying those kinda nights out in days gone by, but on the other hand, I wouldn't name a ****ing street after him either.
The modern trend to kiss the ass of every recently deceased popular icon by naming streets or buildings after them is becoming ridiculous, and many are obviously PR attempts by councils etc to ride some wave of popular culture. Just ask the people of Belfast how they feel about having their city airport named after a womanising alcoholic ex-footballer, as undeniably brilliant and worldclass as he was in his day.
Heres to hoping this is just a page filler story.
