Circados182 who ever you are - there's no need to descend into rudeness. (Oh, and I only have one ass). There isn't space here to give you a full list but I s'pose it started with Ghostown by the Specials. If you want more just get on Google. Of course Metallica are a well produced band but the point here is the general stifling of musical expression by too much brick wall limiting in both the mixing and mastering stage. Just open your ears and listen!

I have run an independent studio, (Woodbine Street), for a long time now and despair at the lack of recording and mastering quality now prevalent. Labels whinge on about piracy but in truth they are as much to blame themselves for falling sales by simply ignoring the fact that quality sound is a huge part of the pleasure to be obtained from listening to music.
