By Jove I think he's got it! "So nothing that's popular is good then?" That's generally how it works. It doesn't mean the band were never good, but when it becomes more popular, it's nearly always because it's been diluted and crafted to sell more. The rule that almost always works is that the album before a band's breakthrough album is nearly always their best by far. Go on, think of some bands and try it. I wonder when the last time was that someone bacame a fan of Oasis because they heard them and thought "that's awesome"? Instead of being told they're good by someone they judge to be "cooler" than them and jumping on the bandwagon?
