Nothing to do with the fact that a huge proportion of the crowd were part-time trendy fashionistas there for a couple of hits only? Granted, the band threw their dummy out of the pram like prats, but when they were hit with a 120db soundblast during the opening bars of Sex On Fire and Use Somebody and a relatively muted response during most of their other songs... that must be a bit of a shitter.

Patrick Wolf apologises for hurling equipment at German festival

A public apology to all involved in the C/O Pop shenanigans

Wed 19 Aug, 2009

Comments (1)

It would have been easier to have just said "Sorry for my being a tosser, I was having a hissy fit because I was getting my way". If you run late you run the risk of having your set cut short, it's happened to far bigger acts and they've always found a creative way to get through it (see NOFX or The Wildhearts). This was just ...lame.

Festival scam ticket situation 'far better' than last summer

Event chiefs and police claim crackdown has had positive effect

Mon 17 Aug, 2009

without wanting to sound like a keyboard warrior, I would like to request that Melvin Benn shut the hell up and stop glossing over the facts. With Viagogo becoming Reading Festival's official partner, all they've done is legitimise ticket touting. Yes, they may be ensuring people actually get their tickets, but at a colossal mark-up price which is often 300/400% than the original price. And with Ticketmaster and seetickets respectfully setting up their own re-selling websites, the problem will only get worse.

The Rumblestrips are a great band who just haven't had enough coverage from the music media, hopefully this will give them the publicity they need to boost their profile as they deserve it. They have the tunes, the live ability and the song writing talent to not have to depend on Ronson's undeserved fame to get places. Good luck to them.

Naked Beth Ditto NME cover up for award

Classic shot included in 'best magazine cover' shortlist

Tue 09 Sep, 2008

Why is this up for an award? Obesity is not something we should celebrate as it is just as bad as having anorexic models on magazine covers. Obesity is just the polar opposite of size zero, neither of which are healthy in the slightest. I imagine there are people out there who see this picture as a 'fuck you' to the companies who put un-naturally skinny girls on mag covers, but it really is just as bad.Lose some weight love, not just for your own health but for the obese people out there who are under the illusion that being grossly overweight is 'natural'... it isn't. Harsh but fair I feel.

Jay-Z to headline Roskilde festival

Jay-Z to join Radiohead and Neil Young in Denmark

Wed 16 Apr, 2008

Comments (1)

Well Roskilde is in Denmark for starters, that hardly an easy alternative for British festival goers is it? Secondly, the fact that he's headlining Roskilde shows that it's not a Glasto only so-called 'mistake'. He's capable of headlining the biggest festivals worldwide. Thirdly, so what if he's headlining O2 Fest as well? Others have done it before so why bring this point up against Jay Z? Finally, I take it you'd rather have one of the same big name indie bands headlining AGAIN? Boring.Stick to your guns Eavis (and no gun related rap references please, no pun was intended).

Maynard is right. Radiohead were heading down a great path but they shot themselves in the foot when they announced that they'd be releasing a higher quality downloadable version of In Rainbows, AND when the cd comes out it'll have bonus tracks. Those who paid for this download have just been crapped on. 'According to Radiohead's manager: "If we didn't believe that when people hear the music they will want to buy the CD then we wouldn't do what we are doing." Ouch. Radiohead was moving in the right direction, but if they really want to start a revolution, they need to place the "pay-what-you-want" digital album on the same content and quality level as the "pay-what-we-want" physical album.'

Led Zeppelin reunion: full details here

Wed 12 Sep, 2007

Comments (1)

Pathetic. £125 a ticket is ridiculous. I don't want to hear any 'but it's for charity!' comments. You can't use charity as an excuse to jack ticket prices up to this insane price when members of the band in question are multi millionaires themselves. If you want to make money for charity boys, donate from your own pocket. £125 a ticket practically guarantees that the audience will consist entirely of well-off middle class professionals, whilst the working class music fans of the country have to do without. Led Zep! You DO have fans out there who can't afford such horrific prices to see you live. Start thinking about them!
