Had this for a couple of days now (it came out early in Australia) and still not sure what to make of it. It's certainly dated and somewhat disjointed, but there are moments of brilliance particularly in the heavier tracks. Axl's ballads are, as usual, mawkish and his lyrics are as pedestrian as ever, so it works best when he's screaming and the music's cranked. It's certainly not a bad album by any standards, but I fear that given the anticipation this was always going to disappoint and the critics will be tugging on their leashes ready to attack.
