I think the Klaxons are great fun but when they comment "we think we made the most forward-thinking record" ...I am not sure what they mean? I don't think they sound terribly original or stand out that much. In fact most of their tunes are really boring and mediocre! As for " forward thinking" I think that's a matter of opinion. I thought this was a music award based on talent. Whereas Amy Winehouse, despite her recent sargas is a music legend and she has a voice which will be remembered and listened to for generations to come. The Klaxons..I'm not sure if anyone will even remember who they are next year. There will be some intergalactict out in space, beat thrumming, forward thinking, illuminous outfit wearing newer nu rave next year! You have to also question whether the decision would have maybe been different if her drug taking antics and bad behaviour hadn't been in the limelight recently. I mean... would Mercury really want to give an award to someone who is a self harming, drug taking, sometimes violent and suicidal mess? The answer is obviously no. Does she have the best voice out of all of the nominees? The answer is most certainly yes.
