Thats a really poor argument tom00. Who decides what is good, a few muppets on here I don't think so. Generally I think record sales is a very good way of going on who the best artists are in there genre because otherwise it's your opinion against mine. Katy Perry is good at singing ridiculous horrible cheesy pop songs and Coldplay are good at producing world class definitive and legendary rock songs. Elbow are just a horrible horrible band and just like Foals they'll never be as big or sucsessful and why....because there not as good. So don't be one of them people who "trys to be different" by liking crap bands like Foals and Elbow. A lot of people like Coldplay because they are world and I repeat WORLD CLASS, now I bought the Glasvegas album today, there a good new band. As for Duffy shes the best singer-songwriter of her generation just a perfect perfect voice mixed with a wonderful retro sound. Lot to learn rubbersoul7, mozafan and albumental lot to learn lads :)

I generally just don't understand The Mercury Music Awards, I mean what do they judge on? Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" is my album of the year and it doesn't even make the shortlist. I mean number one in 33 countries not enough for you? The other one was Duffy, the best female vocalist in years and yet she doesn't make the shortlist...the judges want there heads looking at. And so to the awards night. It just had to be The Last Shadow Puppets really, just a perfect perfect album with the greatest songwriter of his generation and brilliant strings arranged by Mr Pallet. I would have settled for British Sea Power to win as well one of the most exiting bands for a long time. Elbow are just an absolutley horrendous band with no songs. Why are TLSP more famous and on tv and radio more than Elbow? Beacuse there better simple as that, Rant Over.
