I think that Interpol and Editors also take from 1980s French bands Marquis de Sade and Marc Seberg. The former was roughly a contemporary of Joy Division and Echo & The Bunnymen. I think I read somewhere that one from Interpol lived in Paris at a time when Marc Seberg was still going...
