I can make it slightly better for you ap1976pr - Bon Iver are on again the following day, third on the Other Stage. Apart from the fact that some of the ordering seems a bit odd (like Bon Iver, had no idea he was that popular!) looks like a great line up. Sadly I'm not going though!

Oasis, Kurt Cobain, Blur, Winehouse - NME.COM's biggest stories of 2008

Check out the top ten stories you've been reading this year

Err, Alex Baxter... Mikeer clearly said he liked Oasis. Unless you were referring to the attack at V and feud with Jay Z. As for me, I don't like Oasis. I can see why people do and by no means think they are stupid because of it, I just think they're shite and, (yes, that old argument), they haven't changed in ten years. I don't need a Radiohead-esque alteration, but something new would be nice! (The importance of being idle was a brief good step.)

Well, I'm going to combine the enforcer's marvellous point with what Jamesyp has noticed (should I be worried or impressed?) and assume that he meant to put Muse. Reasonable assumption I think.

Coldplay are brilliant. Jay Z is brilliant. Why the fuck did they have to ruin it with Girls a-fucking-loud?

Blur, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young for Glastonbury 2009?

I know Glasto's branching out (as it does every year, it has a huge roster but people just look at the main stages) with Jay Z last year, but Heavy Metal is a real stretch, Muse and Queens are the heaviest it gets really. They definitely wouldn't headline they, certainly not the main stage! Let's just hope its not Take-fucking-That, because don't forget, they had Robbie Williams...

Coldplay's Chris Martin calls Blur 'incredible'

Martin also says he'll be watching the band's Hyde Park gig

Oh ffs people leave the man alone! And Martyn Davenport, this shit about you think Chris Martin sees himself as "better" than everyone else is stupid. Any interview with him shows that, whilst you may find him annoying, he is completely down to earth. If, on the other hand, you mean that celebrities and other musicians seem to get in much more easily, then I'm behind you 100%. Doesn't seem too fair does it?

Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne: 'I don't like Oasis'

Stardumb, you got it spot on. Both UK and US have great bands, it doesn't matter where you are from if the music you make is great! I mean, come on, Muse are from Teignmouth! Anyone been there and want to stay? And Yoshimi is an awesome, if somewhat weird album. Oasis have a fantastic Greatest Hits, including some of the newer stuff, but lets face it, they've not changed much have they? I mean, what the hell was "Shock of the lightning"?

binstig, if you were referring to the above comment from Soundedd, I'm not sure you could class him as an "idiot who has to share his hatred". If you reading their post you'll see it's actually very polite and explains why they disapprove rather than just saying "Radiohead are shite." I'm a fan of Radiohead but, as Soundedd did point out, that's "just my opinion."

I don't care about how cool they are. Their music is great. I can perfectly understand why some people might brand them as boring and all that, but I think they're great. Plus Chris Martin is a very funny man (watch his interview with Ricky Gervais on Ricky's website. If you don't laugh well... you don't laugh. So you're an idiot!)

Mark Ronson lashes out at Noel Gallagher

Producer hits back at Oasis leader over 'three chords' comment

Sun 17 Aug, 2008

Comments (1)

Wesley1:a) what the hell do you mean "to anyone who knows music"? I got an A in music tech at A Level and have been going to festivals for six years. I've been in 3 bands and played around 40 gigs. Mark Ronson has taken songs, both good and bad, and made them different and, (often) good. But why the hell should my opinion be anymore valid than a ten-year old girl, or a 50 year old dad going through a mid-life crisis?b) I've never been a fan of Oasis, and Noel commenting on "three chords" is laughably hypocritical.c) Saw Newton Faulkner at V Festival this weekend and he was incredible. Not just an amazing voice, but a brilliant musician. He strummed and played drums on different bits of his guitar with his left-hand (simaltaneously), played tapped notes and chords with his right whilst also occassionally drumming on other parts of his guitar, and using his feet to play a sort of synth piano thing on the floor. All this plus singing fantastically and being a genuinely warm and funny performer who did a marvellous one-man version of Bohemian Rhapsody. Listen/watch before commenting.Just a general note about Oasis, it is indeed true that they inspired lots of bands and, having watched the definitely maybe documentary, there is no doubt that they had a very interesting and emphatic introduction to the music scene. This does not make them a good band. It makes them a well-known band. One final note: both the gallaghers are mouthy idiots. Saw them at Glastonbury 2004 and they were complete shite. Saw Muse at the same festival, who showed how to be an influential act and fucking incredible live at the same time.

Cheers Jorges, and there was me thinking sarcasm and jury jokes were going to rule the world, nice to see that some people out there still have the common decency to avoid that sort of shite! On another note, I'm a huge fan of Coldplay and hate the way people write off people's opinions because of who they are. I'm a middle class student and fucking proud of it! My status does not make my opinion any more or less valid than yours because I'm not aware of some obscure little indie band or worship them because they're not famous. On that note, kill it kid are amazing. And anyone who disagrees must be a middle class student and, therefore, an idiot.

Maybe I just grew up in the wrong era but I've never considered Oasis to be a classic act. I know this is a cliched way of looking at them but they're arrogant twats whose songs are just not interesting at all. They were appalling at Glasto 2004, absolutely shite. Liam is an idiot.
