Kasabian: 'I don't know if it's good or bad to be Mercury favourites'

Serge Pizzorno says the band's nomination came as a shock to him

Tue 21 Jul, 2009

Comments (1)

I'm with hness on this one, I don't think Kasabian are the best band around at the moment, but at least they're trying to be a bit different and not just putting out the same 3 chord meat and potatoes over and over again. They put on a very good live show too and they look like rock stars. It's a shame they're lumped in with the Lad rock crowd (Oasis, Enemy, Stereophonics etc) because there's very little similarity between them and any of those bands. As for the Mercury Prize, has anyone actually given a shit about it since M People won it in the 90s?

Raging Liam Gallagher hits out at fan during Oasis' London gig

Gallagher calls audience member a 'fat boy' and 'fucking student'

Wed 22 Jul, 2009

Comments (1)

Liam's completely lost the plot. It's quite clear he doesn't give a shit about Oasis anymore, and who could blame him. There's only 3 new songs in that set and only 3 others that aren't from 94-95. I can't imagine how boring it must be to just play the same songs to the same drunken idiots over and over again. Oasis need to take a long break and either get the inspiration back, or give up for good. Then Liam can focus on the clothes, Noel can carry on with his new found career as a media personality, and the rest of them can go back to session musician obscurity where they belong.

I went to see this Jersey Budd bloke a while back and thought he was dreadful. Really, really bad. No style, no charisma, no tunes. If he turns out to be Britain's answer to Springtseen I'll eat my cat.

Limp Bizkit promise 'explosive' new album

Fred Durst and co also want to headline Download

Tue 16 Jun, 2009

Comments (1)

Dear NME, Please stop talking about Limp Bizkit. They are one of the shittest bands of all time and really don't deserve to be given a minute's attention by anyone who considers themselves a music fan. I thought it was bad enough when you wrote about them in 2000, but at least they were popular then. Now they're not only dreadful but they're utterly irrelevant too. If we ignore them, maybe they'll go away.

Liam Gallagher planning Pretty Green furniture

Oasis singer talks of label expansion plans

Tue 16 Jun, 2009

Comments (1)

I was looking forward to seeing Liam's clothes but the stuff that's gone up on the website so far are a joke. They're just really, really bad. He's obviously got the same attitude to clothes as his band has to music- i.e 'we can put out any old shit and our obsessed fans will buy it because they don't know any better.' It just seems like a missed opportunity to me. Second rate rip-offs of Penguin and Lyle and Scott. There's nothing remotely mod about any of it.

KidDynamite- It's 'courageous to live in accordance to your own principles and philosophies' is it? What if he'd have ran over some kid while drink driving? Is that what you'd tell their parents? I like Pete's music but I'm sick of him thinking he's above the law. I know's he's innocent until proven otherwise here, but he's got some track record hasn't he?!

Bonehead: 'Oasis should have quit after Knebworth'

Departed guitarist speaks about band's legacy

Tue 02 Jun, 2009

Probably true, but how many bands can you think of who actually quit when they should have, before their careers started to go down the pan? Sex Pistols, The Smiths, The Jam? Can't think of many others.

Stone Roses ready 20th anniversary edition of self-titled debut

Landmark album gets the deluxe treatment

Fri 08 May, 2009

Comments (1)

Talk about flogging a dead horse! I thought the Smiths were bad for their "re-issue and repackage" policy, but the way this barrel's been scraped over the years is a joke. The Stone Roses released a great album and a couple of good singles and that's it. Why anyone would want to hear a load of backwards tracks and other shitty demos is beyond me. There are better things I could find to spend 100 quid on I know that much.

Nicky Wire: 'I tried to get Manic Street Preachers to scrap Richey album'

Bassist says he wasn't keen on issuing 'Journal For Plague Lovers'

Fri 08 May, 2009

Comments (1)

C'mon boys, this album's just one big marketing ploy and everyone knows it. Ooh, lets get Steve Albini in and use Richey's lyrics to try to get all our old fans back on board after 15 years of shit records. It doesn't wash though. That "mummy what's a sex pistol" song sounds exactly like the gash off their last album. I agree with Mike T- it's time they packed it in.

Pulp, Elastica, Supergrass for 'Common People' Britpop compilation

The Stone Roses and Cast feature – but no Oasis or Blur…

Wed 29 Apr, 2009

Comments (1)

Sweet Jesus. That is the most disusting thing I've ever seen! It's a shame that a few great songs by great artists have been lumped in with so much shit. It depresses me to think that in the future bands like the Super Furries, Pulp and Supergrass will be associated with dross like Rialto, Gay Dad and Hurricane #1. No wonder everyone looks back on Britpop with such disdain.

Band reveal comeback show bills to NME.COM

Tue 14 Apr, 2009

That's pretty good! It's cool that each night has a completely original line-up (Plus Klaxons at the M.E.N gig) although it would've been nice to get one slightly bigger band supporting on both the Hyde Park nights at least. It's unlikely many people will be familiar with ALL of those bands so it's nice to know the gigs will be an eye-opener too! All- in-all, I'm happy with that.

Oasis' Liam Gallagher starts fashion label

Wed 18 Mar, 2009

Comments (2)

Oh God! Now all those little jerk-offs with their barely concealed homoerotic fanatasies for Liam are going to get even worse. Here's a fashion tip for you- Having stupid sideburns, walking around with your hands behind your back and wearing sunglasses and/or a parka indoors does NOT make you look cool. It makes you look like a jackass (unless you are actually Liam Gallagher).

Klaxons to re-record second album

Plus band reveal festival plans

Fri 13 Mar, 2009

Comments (1)

I admit I was a bit shocked by this at first too, but I think Jamie's got a point actually. Klaxons are a pop band and there's nothing wrong with that! Trying to be heavy and psychedelic probably wouldn't be the right thing for them. And what's more, it wouldn't be the first time a record company's ordered a band to ditch an album and start again. Blur and The Jam are just 2 examples of bands that did just that and ended up producing their best work (Modern Life... and All Mod Cons)

I'll never understand why McGee doesn't spend more time bragging about how good Super Furry Animals are. They're more interesting than Glasvegas or Oasis, but McGee seems to have allowed himself to forget about them. This is what pisses me off about the man more than anything. BLUR SPEAK: 'We are reuniting for Hyde Park gig' – Exclusive

Damon Albarn and co tell NME 'it just felt it was right again'

Tue 09 Dec, 2008

Comments (1)

Great News! Although it does seem they're only getting back together to play the gigs and there's no suggestion anywhere that they may be heading into the studio. I think they could still make some great music together judging by Damon and Graham's individual projects over the last 8 years. Still, The Verve live was one of my highlihgts of 2008 (and I haven't even bothered with Forth) so there's every chance Blur will be my highlight of '09. I just hope I can get tickets.

Oasis' Noel Gallagher: 'Me and Liam should both do solo records'

Guitarist plans first 'separate' release to follow band's world tour

Thu 04 Dec, 2008

Comments (1)

What everyone needs to realise is Noel and Liam are completely mutually dependent. Noel is a good songwriter but every time he sings (with the exception of TIOBI) you can't help but think how much better it would be if Liam was on vocals. It's the whole reason Oasis exist when you think about it- otherwise why didn't Noel go solo 10 years ago? Likewise Liam's songs are OK but his tunes have been the weakest on the last 2 albums by far. The reason Definitely Maybe is their best album is because the songwriter writes the songs, and the singer sings them. Simple as!

Noel Gallagher: 'Radiohead have been making the same record since 'Kid A''

Oasis man still loves the Oxford band though

Fri 07 Nov, 2008

Comments (1)

OK then Noel, I WILL correct you because you ARE wrong. Radiohead's 3 albums since Kid A have all been very different. To claim In Rainbows is a difficult electronic album suggests you either haven't heard it, or you really are the musical Luddite I've often suspected you of being. You've sold out all your tours now anyway so can you just shut up and go away until you've next got something to promote please.

Damon Albarn: 'Blur reunion is possible'

Albarn scuppers rumours he is preventing reunion

Thu 06 Nov, 2008

Comments (1)

I think it's important that Blur get together again, even if it's just to bring an end to things and give fans who've loved them over the years another chance to see them live. Although I also think that judging by recent output by both Albarn and Coxon they're still capable of writing some amazing music together. Let's just hope it happens sooner rather than later, before Alex gets too fat from all the cheese.

Oasis' Noel Gallagher defies doctor's orders to begin UK tour

Band are introduced onstage in Liverpool by an old friend

Wed 08 Oct, 2008

Comments (1)

Why are people moaning about them not playing Live Forever? They've been playing Live Forever for the last 15 years. Yeah, they could make up half the set-list with Definitely Maybe tunes, but surely that'd only prove all the critics right that they haven't moved on since their debut! I'd personally rather see them do Bag It Up and The Turning than songs I've seen and heard so many times before. Slide Away and I Am The Walrus are welcome and long-overdue inclusions, but I'd also quite like to see Do You Know What I Mean, Go Let it Out and The Hindu Times thrown in too.

Oasis' Liam Gallagher: 'I'd make Noel's attacker eat his own dick'

Liam speaks out about Toronto attack on day one of UK tour

Wed 08 Oct, 2008

Comments (1)

WHAT? We've all seen the footage, and far from getting involved in any trouble, Liam actually looks scared! Apart from thowing a token punch once the guy is surrounded by security guards, he does nothing to make himself look like the tough guy he makes out he is. And, while we're at it, can we stop calling this guy 'Noel's attacker'. I mean I'm not condoning what he did, but he pushed Noel over, that's all. It may have had nasty consequences for Noel, but it's not an 'attack'. And surely, when your whole image is built on the ieda of embracing violence, you shouldn't be such a cry-baby when it backfires on you. On the plus side, it looks like they're playing a good set again at least.

Graham Coxon responds to Damon Albarn's claim that 'Blur is over'

'It's very complicated,' guitarist admits

Mon 22 Sep, 2008

Comments (1)

So real bands stay there always do they Harry90? The fact that there's only 2 original members of Oasis left in the band, proves what a load of cack you're talking. The only half decent album Oasis have ever made was the first one anyway. At least Blur realise that unless they're all back together, then things won't work, although it makes me extremely sad to think they might never record together again. And comparing Gra's words here to the endless rubbish from Noel G's blogs you've been publishing, only really demonstrates how much more of an intelligent and interesting band Blur are, and always were, than Oasis.
