My God I really, really, really hate Florence and the Machines. A DREADFUL voice and utterly tedious music. Proper switch-the-radio-off standard of music

Radiohead play epic Leeds Festival headline show

Thom Yorke and co bring new material and hits to Bramham Park

Sat 29 Aug, 2009

Comments (1)

Far too much stuff off Kid A, Hail to the Thief and Amnesiac and only two songs from The Bends? No Karma Police? Pretty poor set list if you ask me. Maybe a few more hits wouldn't have gone a miss...

Babyshambles man outlines plan for next summer

I say don't reform as they will never be able to capture the excitement, intensity and charisma onstage that they used to produce, giving more people an excuse to slag them off. Saying that, Ill still go and watch them.

Gutted I'm missing this - there are only three bands left in my 15 year gigging life who I want to see - Goldfrapp, Vines and Radiohead. Then, my live life will be complete.

Who will be nominated for this year's Mercury Prize?

Barclaycard Mercury Prize shortlist due to be announced tomorrow (July 21)

Mon 20 Jul, 2009

Comments (1)

The NME only want the Horrors nominated so they can be proved right in their over-hyping. Yeah so they sound like My Bloody Valentine and Jesus and Mary Chain, two of the most overrated, boring, uninspiring 'cool' bands wanked about by the music press and 'trendy' bands at the moment.

I think she's missing the point in that its not over copyright and all that bollocks, it's about the fact that none of the originals who made Hole Hole are there anymore, so it is really Hole at all?

Kings Of Leon, Radiohead and Arctic Monkeys for Reading And Leeds Festivals

2009 line-up announced today (Mar 30)

Mon 30 Mar, 2009

Comments (1)

I can guess headliners of AC/DC on the tedious metal day, Snow Patrol and one other. There are so few massive bands to go round, and Reading / Leeds usually go for two current big bands to headline, so the other choice will be interesting. Bound to be rubbish whoever they are but interesting to see who it'll be.

Klaxons to re-record second album

Fri 13 Mar, 2009

Comments (2)

Bloody hell lots of hate here for the Klaxons. Would they be hated so much if they weren't wanked over on a daily basis by the NME? I think they have some decent tunes - Atlantis to Interzone is one of my favourites. Wolfamoung Wolves - should only working class people make music?

Kings Of Leon, Snow Patrol, Katy Perry for T In The Park

Sat 31 Jan, 2009

Comments (1)

Several points - how can Willy Plonka call KOL sell outs then wank on about the Manics? They've historically been one of the biggest sellouts of them all. Secondly the NME hate the Pigeon Detectives so that's a misinformed comment from ava86. Thirdly festival headliners are becoming boring and predictable because that's been the music scene for several years now. Thanks

Cribs to release 'Cribsmas' DVD

Recordings of last year's Leeds Brudenell Social Club shows to be released

Wed 03 Dec, 2008

Comments (1)

The Cribs are one of the most overrated bands ever (by the press). Ryan Jarman is a tosser as well - I saw them at the Fez in Reading in 2004 and he was a total obnoxious prick and the music was dire.

Good. I saw them live at Glasto, just following their prime (in 2005) and they were brilliant. But Martin had already turned into a bit of a pretentious arse by then and now I just find him and his band's holier-than-thou music pretty pompous and boring. So I think it's obvious they'll never equal their first two albums again, so good riddance.

The Enemy prepare 'punky' second album

Band speak about upcoming album sessions

Wed 22 Oct, 2008

Comments (1)

I hate The Enemy. Every time I see or hear Tom whatsizface speak I lose my temper. He thinks he has credibility because he sings about how tough and shit life is in a city and name drops punk bands like the Clash and Sex Pistols, saying they meant something etc etc. You are nothing new, mate - there are thousands of other bands with the same atittude, saying the same things as you, and has been for the last 30 years. What makes you special? Certainly not your MOR, radio-friendly, 'I hate working in MacDonalds' angry-16-year-old guff that you release as music.

Glastonbury 2009: 'over half of the tickets sold'

Fans have been snapping up tickets since this morning (October 5)

Sun 05 Oct, 2008

Comments (1)

Unlike Reading and Leeds, Glastonbury isn't all about running around tents watching as many bands as you can. Glastonbury truly comes to life after the bands finish, and doesn't even compare with Reading and Leeds - it's like saying West Ham United aren't as good as Indiana Jones. I have been to both festivals many times each and the spirit of Glasto wipes the floor with that of Reading and Leeds.

Dirty Pretty Things split up – exclusive

Carl Barat and co call it a day

Wed 01 Oct, 2008

Comments (1)

I'm not really surprised - their last album was pretty tedious. They weren't ever too good live either judging from the 3 times I've seen them. On the Libertines reforming - bad idea. I LOVE the Libertines first album, but if they reformed they would never be able to recatch that spark and excitement they generated back then, and everyone would just think they're a shit band, ignoring their past brilliance. Leave them be.
