The View beg Oasis for support slot

They've also covered two Noel Gallagher classics

They deserve it...after ignoring their first album I woke up to them and really enjoy their 2nd album...their sound is a lot fresher than the likes of The Enemy and Twisted Wheel, laddish shouty rock. The View are in it for the melodies and shits and giggles! Besides which, as much as I love Oasis...Liam's voice ain't happening lately...so they'd do well to get shed loads of support to compensate. Kasabian are alright...The Enemy are OK...but The View are boss!

Slipknot fan dies after heart attack at Iowa show

CPR fails to revive 29 year-old man

Corey Taylor, that cunt was on MTV2's Review Of 2008 and he reminded me of your average bully boy cock head American 'jock' (as they cheesily put it). Had absolutely no good things to say about anything, the rest were cringing at his rants. I was flicking him the V throughout as I watched, the wanker. He then went on about how he wished Chris Martin was dead before admitting he liked Clocks. What a tool. Seriously, why have him on? He gave me the creeps just watching him. It's blatantly obvious that if he's in a band like Slipknot he's been reared on god awful music himself as a kid. Good choice MTV2, really well rounded opinions.

David Bowie: 'I don't have a Twitter account'

The star makes announcement about Berlin and Coachella rumours

Wed 28 Jan, 2009

Who gives a flying fig about Bowie having a Twitter account? All I care about is Bowie finding Mark Ronson's son (if he has one), giving him a guitar and letting rip with a new version of the Spiders From Mars. Get that geezer with the ridiculous sideburns and the drummer and we're away, playing to packed houses and yelping "John I'm Only Dancing!" Come on Bowie, from 1969-74 you rocked hard, your live band was one of the greatest in the world and you pissed it away to go 'soul'. Get back to what made you a star in the first place.

Oasis' Noel Gallagher: 'I'm average at guitar'

Noel says he's not that great – and Paul Weller agrees

Tue 27 Jan, 2009

ed2005, couldn't agree with you more. It's how you use what you've got. Take Neil Young, not a great lead guitarist but he's basically blagged his way through Buffalo Springfield and his solo career as a lead guitarist. It was more noticeable with the old line-up that Noel wasn't a great lead player, as Bonehead was just your average rhythm player. But with Gem the quality of guitar playing in Oasis is up (Gem is the prominent lead guitarist in Oasis now I believe). I'd rather listen to a one or two note bluesy solo that had some feeling in it than some guitar wankery by the likes of Metallica etc. Show off bollocks. And you're all right about Lennon too, used the guitar as a songwriting machine, nothing else. Technically Macca was probably a better guitarist. Does it matter? I doubt it. Weller can't talk either, Steve Cradock is the man in his band, a great all rounder and superb lead guitarist. The only solo I can think of by Weller that stands out is Start!

Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood to reform Faces

Band members announce they are hitting the studio soon

Wed 12 Nov, 2008

I'd welcome it but I'm sceptical on how Stewart will cope. He was a fine rock singer back in the day (check out The Jeff Beck Group too)...but it'll be nice to see Ronnie Wood take up the sole guitarist role...and always a pleasure to hear Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones. But what strikes me is that what made the Faces great was their boozy antics. Aren't they all tee-total these days?

Jimi Hendrix's drummer Mitch Mitchell found dead

Last surviving Jimi Hendrix Experience member dies in Portland

Thu 13 Nov, 2008

May I just say that Mitch Mitchell is/was/forever will be a DEVASTATING drummer who blows my mind everytime a Hendrix record comes on the radio, or on my stereo. The man was an influence on John Bonham and Roger Taylor and I'm sure millions more drummers. For those unfamiliar check out Crosstown Traffic for the funk or Manic Depression for the rock. Sad that the Experience are no longer of this earth. RIP Mitch Mitchell.
