Read what the rapper had to say about the guitarist
Thu 07 Aug, 2008
You can't take a cheap shot at Oasis- yes they might not have done anything new as of late, but they've got an amazing back catalogue of songs that soundtracked peoples lives in the nineties. That may be the past but the lives that Jay-Z soundtracks are probably those of teenage single mums. Compare the effect that Oasis' albums had, and the number of people that bought their records and went to their gigs to bands today- there is no comparison. Im not a massive Oasis fan but at least I can appreciate what they've done for English music. And Elliot-Decihells, to say music nowadays is 'fresh' is wrong, pretty much every new band out at the moment is just a boring recycling of something old. Just wait for the next big shift in music, the next new genre that will come along and change everything, we are due a change, its been a long time since 1976.

Ironic if it comes as a free download on xbox live, doubt it though given the bands history.TheRealKid obviously dont have too many friends to play it with, Guitar Hero is one of the best games to play with mates (apart from Fifa 08)

shame about all the negativity. the band havent produced their best work in the past few years, but you have to look beyond that. alot of people that comment on this site have a really immature and narrow-minded way of looking at music.

I have to say Clemo, that both are one trick ponies, and I really would'nt rate one band above the other. Both have made second albums not as good as their first though, so maybe thats something that they have in common.

You give your verdict on The Killers, Rage Against The Machine and Metallica
Tue 01 Apr, 2008
I have seen Metallica headline Download in 2004, and I have to assure everyone that they were an amazing headlining act- I definitely believe that they will surpass the flat performances of both Razorlight and RHCP that we had to endure last year. RATM are an incendiary live band and I think 60,000 people singing "Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me" at the end of 'Killing in the Name of' will be the defining moment of the festival season. from the organizers perspective, Killers have to be on the bill to attract a wider audience. But Kings of Leon should be the other headliner in the place of The Killers, especially after last years performance- one of the best live performances i've ever seen.My only concern, looking at the position of bands on the billing, that there will be clashes between some of the best bands. RATM, Babyshambles and These New Puritans, all bands I would like to see play at Reading, look as if they will be onstage all at once.

Mon 31 Mar, 2008
i disagree with keith on this. i smoke but i am in favour of the ban. it makes everything smell a lot better and you dont get burnt on the back of the neck in gigs. and besides, when you go out clubbing theres alot of non-smokers coming outside cos the smoking areas are usually good and you can hear people talk without shouting. i've got mates who have actually started smoking since the ban cos when we go out for a fag they all follow.

this is one of the best lineups i've seen in recent years. rage against the machine are likely to be exclusive to that appearance in the UK this year so this is the festival to go to it seems.

I can't believe some people commenting on here that Kings of Leon aren't big enough to headline. They are much bigger than Arctic Monkeys, who played last year, in terms of being a global band- outside of England and Europe in particular not many people know who they are. I have a Canadian friend who says that the average Canadian will never have heard of the Arctic Monkeys or any of their music. Whereas with Kings of Leon, they are big in North America and Europe and sell a lot more records, and have 3 successful albums...point proven really.

Kings of Leon deserve to be there no doubt, they gave some of the best performances of the festival season last year at Reading and Leeds Festivals. The Verve are legendary and have just finished a hugely successful UK tour. As for Jay-Z its a bit of variation and at least everyone knows the songs thanks to playlists in clubs and on the radio for the past few years. Overall good headliners.

I am amazed at the $100,000 per second price tag on advertising. Arcade Fire have got every right to try and get some money from Fox, i'm sure they can afford it if they charge that much for advertising.

The lineup for the festival is starting to look pretty impressive. But I can't see why Joe Jean and the ridiculously long name are getting so much attention at the moment. I don't think i know a single person who either knows who they are or actually likes them and i was unlucky enough to see them support Babyshambles and i think they are a band that represents everything that is wrong with the turgid get-rich-and-famous-quick music scene we now have thanks to myspace.

Resale of live event tickets slammed in government report
Sat 05 Jan, 2008
Football tickets can be resold. My dad always buys them off guys at work if they cant make it to a match. I think this will always be a problem. And to be honest the people who are exploiting this weakness in the system are the clever ones, the mugs are the ones who pay for them. Without the demand then the touts won't bother buying them for resale.

Tinseltown, who are supporting babyshambles in glasgow and brixton are definitely worth checking out at myspace.com/ilovetinseltown. But its a shame These New Puritans are pigeon-holed on the billing with The Horrors. I've seen them play with crystal castles before and they are musically a lot better and a lot more original, and should definitely be higher up the bill.
