Pete Doherty arrested after 'drug bust'

Babyshambles man was arrested on a British Airways flight

Sun 07 Jun, 2009

Comments (1)

Do you actually believe that he was arrested for drugs? There are no facts this is insinuation. How would he get a needle on a flight? Unless there was a genuine medical reason for it - airport security is not that lax. And besides, it is most likely a publicity stunt, he sat in the toilet with a needle (most likely for someone he was travelling with's diabetes) and then waited to be found and to get some press he is desperate for, particularly as The Libertines are set to reunite.

The Libertines reunite for London show

Pete, Carl and Gary play intimate gig in capital

Sat 16 May, 2009

Comments (1)

@shityourlegoff: as if you're not going to be embarrassed either? The Libertines were great, and if they get back together it will be great news for music, we seem to be treading water a little in England, and to be honest a lot of people are turning their backs on guitar music again - having to spend £15 to see Annie Mac DJ as she seems to pop up all over the place is good, but no alternative for real live music.@shityourlegoff: also get a real user name...how old did you say you were again??

Reading And Leeds Festivals weekend tickets sell out

Kings Of Leon, Radiohead and Arctic Monkeys for Reading And Leeds Festivals

2009 line-up announced today (Mar 30)

Mon 30 Mar, 2009

Comments (1)

I'm not sure I can be bothered to spend summer standing in that same field, watching bands i've already seen play there in years past - could of got a more exciting lineup. to be honest kings of leon won't be as good as they were 2 years ago because of the kind of people that will be attracted to the festival because of sex on fire. and arctic monkeys were rubbish last time they played reading - they turned up late, were drunk, stood around tuning their guitars and when they played they were boring and the sound quality was poor. i'm definitely coming round to the idea that the smaller festivals are better than the bigger ones. if the smaller tents have some good bands i might think about going...

Klaxons to re-record second album

Plus band reveal festival plans

Fri 13 Mar, 2009

Comments (1)

I think if they had integrity as artists then they would find a way to get out of the contract. Else make it difficult for the record company. I think it is ridiculous that their music is being manipulated in such a way. To be honest it is pretty obvious that the music industry and press don't know what people want to hear after all of the bands that they sign seem to be flopping after a few singles and none seem to make it past the first album. Stop hyping so many bands and completely forget 'rave' and 'mgmt' style bands. We need something new!

Pete Doherty: 'I sold The Strokes drugs'

Babyshambles man says he supplied Julian and co with acid

Thu 12 Mar, 2009

Comments (1)

Why mention it now? I can't believe Pete started doing drugs just to then mention them in his press releases. Yeah The Strokes probably do do drugs but they aren't dropping them into every interview they do. Pete is getting more and more lame. I don't think his new album will do that well, it seems pretty self indulgent, apart from the single out at the moment, which might get somewhere. Didn't understand the video though, that's a bit fucked up.

Marilyn Manson, ZZ Top join Download line-up

Fri 20 Feb, 2009

Download is pretty much for the bands that can't play anywhere else. I'm pretty much sure that Slipknot have played there every year since i've been aware of it. Also, I think most genuine metal fans have started going to festivals in Europe and especially Germany because they get the better line ups.

Jamal Woolard speaks to NME.COM about new film

Mon 09 Feb, 2009

To mention Shakespeare and BIG in the same sentence is ridiculous. BIG was a great rapper, but he just wrote about what he lived, rather than creating something new that wasn't directly derived from his experiences like Shakespeare. Also I would question his importance in music. Yeah, he's important in the history of rap, but he didn't really innovate or do anything new for the rest of music.

Axl Rose and co preview album online

Thu 20 Nov, 2008

Comments (1)

I agree with drgonzo2012, it is a pretty long album, definitely feels like Axl Rose's 17 year old monster. Some of the tracks sound really sluggish and go on for too long. Worth a listen though because there are parts in some of the songs that were definitely worth the wait, i think Axl made the mistake he made on Use Your Illusion, he didn't edit out all the filler in between the killer.

Oasis' Liam Gallagher disappointed by Kings Of Leon

Singer brands the Followill clan sellouts

Fri 31 Oct, 2008

Comments (1)

i'm disappointed by Liam, to be honest this just makes him look jealous of KOL's success. I respect the fact that KOL are diversifying and giving their fans a wide range of music to listen to. The new album is a sign that the band has grown and matured and so has their sound. The early records sound like a young, brash band, and the last 2 records sound like a band who have fine-tuned their song-writing and are ready to tackle more difficult styles. As Axl Rose once said: 'It takes more heart to branch out than it does just to carry on making the harder sounding music'.At the end of the day, you can choose what to listen to: if you like the old stuff then listen to it, if you are open-minded, listen to all of their music.

Fri 19 Sep, 2008

couldnt see the difference between the two samples to be honest. of course when you present it like this video does its going to sound a little different because they switch while the song is playing and the effects on the guitars are changing rather than playing back the same sample twice, once with guitar hero and once with the cd version. when they do this at the end, you can hear that it sounds pretty much the same. who gives a shit, just turn it up loud and enjoy it or go see them live.

Jay-Z raps about Oasis' Noel Gallagher Glastonbury spat

Read what the rapper had to say about the guitarist

Thu 07 Aug, 2008

Comments (1)

You can't take a cheap shot at Oasis- yes they might not have done anything new as of late, but they've got an amazing back catalogue of songs that soundtracked peoples lives in the nineties. That may be the past but the lives that Jay-Z soundtracks are probably those of teenage single mums. Compare the effect that Oasis' albums had, and the number of people that bought their records and went to their gigs to bands today- there is no comparison. Im not a massive Oasis fan but at least I can appreciate what they've done for English music. And Elliot-Decihells, to say music nowadays is 'fresh' is wrong, pretty much every new band out at the moment is just a boring recycling of something old. Just wait for the next big shift in music, the next new genre that will come along and change everything, we are due a change, its been a long time since 1976.

Fans react to Reading And Leeds Festival headliners

You give your verdict on The Killers, Rage Against The Machine and Metallica

Tue 01 Apr, 2008

Comments (1)

I have seen Metallica headline Download in 2004, and I have to assure everyone that they were an amazing headlining act- I definitely believe that they will surpass the flat performances of both Razorlight and RHCP that we had to endure last year. RATM are an incendiary live band and I think 60,000 people singing "Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me" at the end of 'Killing in the Name of' will be the defining moment of the festival season. from the organizers perspective, Killers have to be on the bill to attract a wider audience. But Kings of Leon should be the other headliner in the place of The Killers, especially after last years performance- one of the best live performances i've ever seen.My only concern, looking at the position of bands on the billing, that there will be clashes between some of the best bands. RATM, Babyshambles and These New Puritans, all bands I would like to see play at Reading, look as if they will be onstage all at once.

I can't believe some people commenting on here that Kings of Leon aren't big enough to headline. They are much bigger than Arctic Monkeys, who played last year, in terms of being a global band- outside of England and Europe in particular not many people know who they are. I have a Canadian friend who says that the average Canadian will never have heard of the Arctic Monkeys or any of their music. Whereas with Kings of Leon, they are big in North America and Europe and sell a lot more records, and have 3 successful albums...point proven really.
