They are a good band, but I think it's quite naive to say they are the best band of the last 30 years. From a purely objective point of view, you'd have to say that bands like The Clash, Joy Division, The Smiths, The Stone Roses, The Jam etc have been far more more important and influential. I'm not saying I love or hate any of these bands, but they have made more of a lasting impression on British music than The Cure.

I like The Cure. They've made some great music and deserve recognition. But just who are the people who have been sitting up all night and repeatedly voting for The Cure as best ever rock band and Robert Smith as best ever frontperson? Like I say, they're a good band, but come on...
