Oasis say 'Coldplay are trying to beat our record' - Tabloid Hell

The rockers reckon Chris Martin and co. want their first week sales crown

Christ, why don't Oasis just piss off? Yes, yes, they were once one of the biggest bands on the planet, though most of their records were absolutely dismal (check out "Wonderwall," cleverly dissed by Travis in their song "Writing to Meet You") they couldn't write a decent lyric to save their lives and the Gallagher Brothers were/are misogynistic, homophobic, obnoxious pigs. Their rock star posturing (very public drug usage, provoking violence at their gigs, etc., etc....yawn) was more embarressing than anything. But when was the last time anyone bought one of their records? Blur (you'll remember that Oasis opined that they hoped Albarn and company would "get AIDS" when the latter beat them to the top of the U.K. singles chart in '95) were much better. As they once cruelly and publicly characterized the beautiful and fragile Michael Hutchence, Oasis are has-beens. I'd rather listen to Coldplay (the title track of the new LP is my favourite), the Manics or a score of other groups any day.
