Global economy blamed as event is called off
Tue 20 May, 2008
Probably the first of many - things have been getting silly - there are festivals popping up all over the place at the moment. There simply won't be enough people to go to all of them and pay the ticket prices being asked.

Thom Yorke and co invite fans to rework 'Nude'
Tue 01 Apr, 2008
It's not a new idea, Hard-Fi successfully did a similar thing with their recent single 'I Shall Overcome', but provided all the remixing tools for free. It seems to have proved very popular http://www.ishallovercome.co.uk/

jolly1 - you've got no idea - see comments from people that were present http://ukforums.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/751106815/m/61710952111/p/3
I can't see other established bands like Razorlight, Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, Muse, Radiohead, The Verve etc bothering to go back and play a gig in their local pub - can you?

It's a similar idea to the one that Ash came up with a year or so ago.

Michael Eavis blames lack of big headliners for slump
Fri 14 Mar, 2008
Clemo - I think you'll find that all the acts you mention were not interested for one reason or another in headlining Glastonbury this year - that is not Mr Eavis's fault. Also I know that a lot of people who went last year have been put of going this year by the awful weather conditions which seem to blight this festival on a regular basis - so I suspect that is another reason why demand is down. As deebokz says though - it's good news for people that actually want the tickets.

Great to see Friendly Fires included in this tour. I've seen them play live twice and they have been fantastic and inovative on both occasions.

Six Nation State to release 'video album'
Thu 06 Mar, 2008
Yes, excellent story and brilliant band. They do deserve more coverage in the major music papers and websites. I saw them play in Bristol at the weekend and their performance and the atmosphere were amazing. I think the video album is an excellent idea and I doubt many other bands have ever made a video for every song on their album?

Andy Rourke was in the Smiths - no argument. He should also be commended for the hard work he puts in arranging massive charity gigs such as this one.

He's making a valid point - just take a listen to supposedly exciting new bands such as the Courteeners or the View etc.
