'We wanted to offer it as a free download', say band
Mon 22 Mar, 2010
I'm not the biggest fan of this band, but I feel for them over this issue. The album is still three weeks away from its target launch date, so who knows how many thousands of illegal downloads that equates to. Peer to peer and other file sharing methods are really destroying it for bands in this respect. I'm not just talking about this from a dollar perspective, but also because some idiot has taken away the bands right to release there music as they intended. Its a real shame for MGMT, as I'm sure they have pured everything into this album, as second albums tend to make or break you. Hopefully they catch whoever is responsible for the leak and impose a tough penalty. I also think the record company should probably push the release date forward, at least on digital format, iTunes etc. to try and minimize the leaks impact on sales. Hopefully people out there tempted to download the album illegally will have enough respect for band and just listen to it online at there Myspace page.

We want to know whether you think Liam and co can go it alone
Tue 01 Sep, 2009
Liams voice is the most critical aspect of Oasis, its what defines Oasis. If it had been Liam that had walked out it would have been game over for Oasis and Noel would have gone solo. But Noel leaving just isn't as much of a big deal for Oasis. Noel writes amazing tunes, but the rest of the band are still very capable of writing great Oasis Tunes, as has been proven on the last two LPs. Both Andy and Gem have written some stunning tunes for bands they have played with in the past. And Liam has improoved with every album. They should and will continue on. Liam will do it to stick to fingers up to his brother and to proove the point that he is a person in his own right.Oasis may have lost Noel, but its the most exciting Oasis have been in about 12 years. I can't wait to here an Oasis album with no Noel vocals...his voice is tunefull, but doesn't touch his brothers. Dare I say it, but I think Noel could actually be the loser here. When the Stone Roses split up everyone thought that John Squire would be the one to continue on to do great things and not Ian Brown. How wrong could we have all been. The single biggest with any rocknroll band is the voice and swagger of the lead singer. I think this will all play out in Liams favour.

Guitarist walks after gig cancellation
Fri 28 Aug, 2009
I have always been a huge Oasis fan..the first album was pretty much my the soundtrack to my youth. But I hope this spilt is actually for real. Oasis have seemed tired for ages now. It would actually be far more interesting what both brothers come up with solo - an Oasis without Noel (Liam at the helm) & a Noel Solo effort. Bring on the nest wave of media compatition. Its no longer Oasis VS Blur....but Oasis VS Neol....you couldn't have written it any better.

Thu 30 Oct, 2008

haha...what an empty threat that is.....Apple will never shut down iTunes.....if they do it would serisouly effect there iPod iPod touch and iPhone sales. They dont make very much money from the sale of music but they make a bucket from there hardware sales....everyone knows that. But I think everyone would be better off without them anyway...lets face it....its not cool to have an iPod and its not cool to use iTunes is it.....if you own any Apple products you should purchase an iLife right now...bunch of loosers...

Guy Garvey overawed by Mercury Music Prize victory
Tue 09 Sep, 2008
Nonsense...Elbow shouldnât have been given that award...the albums ok but it sounds like many others and there are far more innovative albums on that Mercury shortlist. The Mercury prize has less to do with great, new and exciting music each year and more to do with the panel making a choice that no one could have possibly predicted. It wouldnt surprise me if next year they pick another 12 albums and then announce there is no winner or an album that wasnât on the fking list.... oh the shock it all. What a load of tripe.

Tue 09 Sep, 2008
People have been making jokes about this saying it was funny and comments like âgoodâ. I donât think anyone would have been laughing had it been more serious . Whether you like Oasis or not, this guy is a fuking looser and should have the book thrown at him. At 47 years old as well...what a complete looser....I hope the Oasis boyz beat the shit out of him...

Noels top three is fair enough the rest is complete rubbish, smoking to much smelly on the tour bus Noel? Why is the Las in the top ten? The only released one album and it was great, but they shouldnt be up there. Noel should have saved the Las for top ten singles or 10 ten could have beens. As for the rest of them, Sex pistols shouldnt be there nor should the specials or the bee gees. How about The Beech Boys, Queen, U2, The Grateful Dead, Velvet Underground, Led Zeppelin, Ramones, Sly and the Family Stone. Love Oasis but this a really average top 10 lets hope the new album is wicked though init. Also and I guess more to the point who really cares what somebody thinks is the top 10.

Guitarist says experimental LP is 'not our usual thing'
Tue 19 Aug, 2008
Canât wait for the new album, shaping up to be a good one â well hopefully.Although I think the first single is really good, itâs not a massive departure from the usual Oasis single â big verse, even bigger chorus, lots of hooks. Not that thatâs a bad thing â âItâs just rock n rollâ un all that. However, it sounds like Noel is trying to build this up to be an all new & experimental Oasis?I think the battle Oasis has is not in their music i.e. the guitars, drums, chords etc....but in there lyrics and delivery. The first single sounds different from the usual Oasis when it first begins...but very quickly develops into the usual Oasis sytle of things.....with lyrics and delivery like âlove is a time macchhhhhineâ, âall in good time e ine e ine e ineâ etc etcLiam sounds wicked on it & always sounds like he is larger than life, buts itâs the lyrics and delivery that make Oasis sound predictable. Iâm not saying they sound go all Radio Head on us, but if they want a new sound they sound mix the lyrics and delivery up. Maybe they will....all roads point to October 6th.

Frontman says the incident was the result of 'jealousy'
Mon 21 Jul, 2008
Bloc Party.....what a bunch of soft try-hards trying to get âpolicitalâ. To resort to stunts like this to try and get some edge is laughable...whilst Lydon is a just a very average fossil of a singer/front man (especially live) in one of the most seriously overrated bands the world has ever seen. As for Lydonâs comment âafter 30 years we are achieving a true unity in our audienceâ....I was there and the concert was absolutely sh*te.....everyone standing around thought so as well. Lydon is seriously in love with his ego and fails to see that most people thinks he looks daft strutting his old saggy bones round on stage...so many people were laughing at him and taking the p*ss....what a twat. Both of Bloc Part and the Sex Pistols should do us all a favor and quit

Guitarist backs Modfather for bucking music industry trends
Sat 31 May, 2008
People should pay for music - otherwise we will all be listening to music written and produced as terribly as Pete Dohertyâs back catalogue. Bands need a record industry - in whatever form that takes. I think for bands like Radiohead to put out a free album is great (certainly surprising), but Itâs easy for big, wealthy bands to pull off elaborate tricks. It was cleverly marketed sensationalism...all be it âartyâ sensationalism, from a band than can quite easily afford to take a big risk. Donât get me wrong though....Radiohead are wicked, but if there last album had flopped I donât think they would have been quite so ready to give something back to the kids. A record industry that people pay for is essential in my book; keeps the bands we like off the streets, off the sh^t & writing cracking albums....apart from Pete that is...the pointless donkey.

Chris Martin and co deny Brooklyn band's claims
Mon 16 Jun, 2008
I_hate_underscoresânahnahnah, you are basically saying that only big, established bands can have any rights in music and can do pretty much whatever they want, including ripping offâ etc etc etc etcWhat a load of rubbish.......the âprincipleâ of the matter is one band saying to another band you have ripped off my song. The songs sound a little similar, but not to the point were some lawyer will be rubbing his hands together. Besides the same could be said of many songs. It has nothing to do with big band vs little band and has got everything to with a struggling band jumping on anything it can to get its name in the paper. What better than a big band releasing a new album.I think Coldplay are a load of old shite anyway.....but shoud tell Creaky Carpet or whatever to f*ck right off
