Amazing line-up. I was ecstatic enough over the headliners, which are amazing and a real coup, but the rest of the bill has now exceeded any possible expectations that I could have dare dreamed of having. It's going to be immense!!

Band speak to NME.COM about eagerly awaited third LP
Thu 21 May, 2009
"The strokes set up the indie scene''?? That's a bit of a short sighted comment to make. Indie music's history stretches back a lot further than 2001! Apart from that, any criticism against all these people who moan under almost every news story I'm in complete agreement with. It's so easy to be negative and to blindly slag bands off (I'm talking about the serial offenders here. Everyone's entitled to an isolated rant now and then). It's lazy and boring and just opens you up to ridicule yourself. If you don't like the music, go onto another news story and read about that instead. I'm sick of it. People slating bands indescrimately and without, for the majority of the time, a valid reason - it's dull.

Yeah, Burton28, two legendary artists who will blow the rest of the festival away. What a joke indeed. What an idiot. With that comment, you don't even deserve a ticket. You probably want the Hoosiers there. Fair comment on Corden and Horne though. They are TERRIBLE.

Buckley fans protest against the TV talent show's cover of Leonard Cohen's song
Tue 09 Dec, 2008
In response to ed2005, yeah, I agree with that comment a lot. Actually Jeff himself said that his version was based on John Cale's version from I'm Your Fan. In relation to the X Factor issue, it would appear that 'Hallelujah' is becoming another 'All Along The Watchtower' i.e. a song repeatedly covered with varying results. As much as most would say the Hendrix version is definitive of '.. Watchtower', I think most would agree that the recording on Grace is the definitive 'Hallelujah' (which, incidentally, was a cut and paste of a number of different performances Jeff did in the studio). Knowing that a pure and beautiful song is being churned out dispassionately by a vacuous money-making machine is depressing for any music lover, surely? Cohen, Cale, Buckley, Wainwright etc were/are artists and the song was an expression and act of catharcism. Whoever records it on the X Factor is just printing money for Cowell. Like a puppet on a string... For me, the true 'X Factor' is in Buckley's performance. That version has 'it'.

Band announce special 'Expecting To Fly' dates

As much as I like a lot of their later material, this was their finest moment and, I feel, a really underrated album.

If this live release is anything like Massey Hall or Filmore East, we're in for a treat. Come on Neil, get those archives out - please stick to the revised date. I'm not gonna hold my breath though

I don't understand that first comment - He recorded an anti-Bush protest album ('Living With War') 2 years ago!! Hmm... I saw him live this year and I'm in agreement with rubbersoul - probably the greatest gig I've ever seen. The man is on fire, playing with the passion and energy of someone a third of his age. Plus he's still got the chops (and voice). America is in for a treat. Legend.
