For me, the only real album in that time period that has exceeded anything else is Alas, I cannot swim by Laura Marling. If she is nominated I could see her being the dark horse.

I think you are missing the point. Amy Winehouse is a mega talented, mega successful singer/songwriter. She does not conform to the typical airhead/bimbo/wag wannabe that floods the media daily. She was making unquestionably good music - her album Frank is still in the top 40 - way before her 'drug addiction' became a way for the tabloids to sell a few more copies. The sooner people realise that Winehouse never wanted to be made into a role model for young kids, the sooner her addictions will became less of a focus and we can go back to wholeheartedly appreciating her for the MUSICAL genius that she is!
