as Radiohead said on Pablo Honey... anyone can play guitar! Difference is, not all of us wrote some of the greatest british albums of all time like Radiohead and Mr Gallagher have. Oasis' 'Dig Out Your Soul' a cert for Number One

Band enjoy massive first day album sales

Tue 07 Oct, 2008

Comments (1)

There is no point in comparing Oasis & The Beatles musically, they are completely different bands. Oasis have never set out to be progressive or groundbreaking, they have always been about straight rock'n'roll and just havin' it! The Beatles were a one off, but they weren't as original as people think they were, most of the time they just brought to the mainstream what was happening in the underground scenes at the time, but obviously no denying that they were miles ahead of everyone else in the game. The music scene is all the better for having both The Beatles & Oasis but for different reasons. Dig Out Your Soul is fucking immmense!!

I download a hell of a lot of music, but as someone has said, nothing beats going into a record shop and chatting for half an hour about likes and dislikes, picking up a few bargains, sometimes the odd limited edition or autographed sleeve! you should try it, it's magical!

'Nearly 100 per cent of music fans copy music illegally'

Poll reveals fans' downloading and copying habits

Tue 17 Jun, 2008

Comments (1)

i don't see the problem myself, music is for the public domain, the more people who hear the music should matter more than the money you make. the money is not in record sales anymore anyway, the way forward is gigs and merchandise, if people have downloaded some good tunes for free they're more than likely to go see the band live, or pay for a ltd edt cd/vinyl etc. I think its great, it opens up the market to new and exciting music. the record labels have fucked themselves to be honest, they need to get with the music over money attitude!!

and here comes the negativity. always first to comment, last to listen. coldplay aren't in anyway my favourite band but they are a clever bunch, they write some good songs and have been a hell of a lot more succesfull in life than anyone on here which i think someone in particular may have a problem facing up to! selling millions doesn't mean its good, but it also doesn't mean that they're sell-outs. as for the word bland, seriously people, you should be ashamed of such expressionless language! come up with your own ideas!

Madonna scores Number One double

Singer Number One in singles and charts

Sun 04 May, 2008

Comments (1)

i've never been too bothered about the charts, but looking at that top ten depresses me. what is it with american culture that the uk public seems to relate to more than their own. we have a massive array of young artists creating original, exciting new music, but still remains 'cult' status in terms of sales and popularity. i feel we desperately need a new band of heroes to blow the market wide open in the way oasis & the arctic monkeys have in the past (i don't necessarily mean a guitar band). The most deppressing fact is people actually buy scouting for girls records.

Girls Aloud diss indie bands on new song

Girl group take a swipe at 'Hoxton trendies' on single

Thu 07 Feb, 2008

Comments (1)

stop getting your skinny jeans in a twist!... if girls aloud are as 'unimportant' as people are saying they are, then what does it matter... its a b-side for gods sake. and as for the comment "i think anyone who supports girls aloud on this should not be on nme"... basically you mean if people don't think the same as you then there opinion isn't worth anything. girls aloud may be a result of a reality show (manufactured) but the reason there are so many un-original, bland, copy-cat indie bands on the pages of nme is because record companies are looking for the next libertines or arctic monkeys, which in essence means every 'genre' eventually becomes manufactured. surely it is a good thing that a 'pop' band have opinions, are out-spoken and have some charachter?

"Oooh! The Originality! I bet this brilliant move will change the music industry!" actually, the charlatans manager alan mcgee had the idea before radiohead, and in a conversation with radiohead management shocked them that the album and single would actually be free, as opposed to choosing your own price. but considering the fact that radiohead actually invented music, i guess it is unimportant.
