Dear Noel,To be "taken out of ones comfort zone" is a commonly used expression which means, basically, one is trying things one is not used to. I know the metaphorical use of "comfort" may have confused your poor brain, but that's not reason to kick out at Tom - he's perfectly harmless. If you don't know what something means, just ask.
