NME is in the business of selling magazines, hness. They'll latch onto whoever will get the job done. Right now, that's Oasis. You people bring this up every time Oasis is getting ready to release a new album. What about the White stripes news, the news about the Strokes and the members' side projects, Glasvegas, Gorillaz...you could make the argument about almost any band that charts.As for the chart position, does it matter? I think the fact that they've charted #1 for years and years (in the UK) is good enough, so what if they don't hit #1 this time on the first week of the single's release? It was moronic of them not to release it earlier anyway; everyone's already heard the song and gone are the days of 3 bsides which would get people out to the shops to buy the single.. Here in the US, chart position means nothing; fans of decent bans don't bother following this garbage.
