Skirting over the fact that Kristin Hersh (ex-Throwing Muses) released an EP by her band 50 Foot Wave on a 'pay what you want even if it's nothing' basis three years ago, check out Cashmusic.org for a similar deal. C.A.S.H. stands for Coalition of Artists and Stakeholders and it's well worth checking out. Currently they've got Kristin Hersh, Donita Sparks (L7) and Deerhoof involved. Kristin Hersh for example is releasing a new song a month on a pay what you like basis, and has even been putting the pro-tools mix stems up for download to encourage remixing.
