Is it better to burn out or fade away? At least Albarn, Coxon and co have remained artistically (and in some cases gastronomically) relevant in this decade. And I agree with barrinho - Song 2 has got to give Wonderwall a run for its money. But Lighthouse Family's 'Lifted' beats them all, so what does that prove? Were Simply Red and Lighthouse Family the true face of Britpop? **shudder**

Pet Shop Boys decline name-change request from Peta

Animal rights group wanted pop duo to highlight plight of cats and dogs

Boo fucking hoo. Put down the Quorn drumstick and support a proper cause. Animal rights activists are the lowest-witted hypocritical fuck-shites out there. Next they'll be bemoaning the needless image exploitation of sweet little bunny rabbits as pseudo-religious sugar-based effigies this time of year. And will then probably threaten someone with death for buying headlice shampoo. I'm going to go murder a pigeon to spite you. And the next hippo I see will get a punch and the full torrent of my scorn for being a fat vegetarian (unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, they tend not to get working visas for the UK), but he'll know I'm joking because he doesn't take himself so fucking seriously.

According to their MySpace page, they are "taking no more shit". So, just creating it, repackaging it and selling it at inflated prices then?

Cistercian monks offer help to Amy Winehouse

'Faith might be the answer for her' say musical monks

MillaDumpsPaul - Congratulations. You are the author of perhaps the most vapid, vacuous comment on NME.com - that takes some effort! I would like to point out that these things - words - we use in conversation and literature are often used to mean a number of things. If you don't believe me, try typing 'bimbo' into any online dictionary. See, lots of meanings, and if you look really closely, you might just make out a reflection of yourself too...I understand you probably have the mental capacity of a chimpanzee, but try to follow me here: a cell is also the room a monk uses for sleep and study. His bedroom if you will. Now a little advice: if you don't understand something, it is probably best not to comment on it, lest you expose yourself for the intellectual amoeba you are and earn disdain or, at best, a patronising pat on the head and an "Aw, bless". Now run along, you little scamp.

Foals: 'New album will sound like the dream of an eagle dying'

Oxford five-piece outline their plans as they begin writing again

Was it difficult to hear him, his head being so far up his arse? Don't get me wrong, Foals' music is good, but there is a difference between creative optimism and pretentious bollocks...
