Carl Barat: 'Why Pete Doherty and I put The Libertines on hold'

Co-frontman confirms there will be no new Libs shows in 2011

Bit disappointed but you've gotta respect the decision. It does get tedious when once great bands keep coming back playing the same songs for the money. Yes, I'm talking to you Pixies! Now get on with that new album please...

I'd take a punt on it being Kylie, U2 and Prince but would love to see The Libertines and Beady Eye on the bill. Really though, who cares a fuck?! They could book Razorlight, N-Dubz and The Script as headliners and it'd still be the best weekend of the year. Roll on Worthy Farm...

Why don't you step off the moral high ground for a couple of minutes and realise that the poor woman who died and pete were/are ill. That's why she's no longer here and he's not in jail. You people make me sick. Why don't you fuck off back to your Daily Mail subscriptions and Keane records. Assholes.

I don't understand these last two comments. Who exactly is this "competent guitars" who "has penned lots of classics" called Nicky? And how exactly could Richard and Bernard play on DogManStar? I'm not even a fan but well, duh, obviously!

Maybe Barack does deserve the hype, unlike U2 who's latest album was uniformly shite.

Reading And Leeds Festivals bans flags

NME.COM wants to know what you think about the decision

Tue 18 Aug, 2009

Comments (1)

The banning of flags is, quite possibly, the best festival moment of 2009. Its been getting bad for the last 2 or 3 years but this years Glastonbury was ridiculous. I couldn't see any of Blur (bar the screens) because of it and when I got home the NME poster of Bruce Springsteen could have been anyone if the caption hadn't told me who it was. Some begrudging respect to whoever made the Michael Jackson/E.T. Moonwalk In Peace one though.Thank you Festival Republic, see you next weekend!

Noel Gallagher: 'Radiohead have been making the same record since 'Kid A''

Oasis man still loves the Oxford band though

Fri 07 Nov, 2008

So Oasis haven't had any success in the US then Damian Shaw?? 3 top 10 albums ('(What's The Story) Morning Glory?', 'Be Here Now' and again now with 'Dig Out Your Soul'), a major hit with 'Wonderwall' and sell out tours where they play venues like Madison Square Gardens isn't that bad is it?! Ok, it might not be on a level with Radiohead or Coldplay but Coldplay are bland, faceless drivel for Volvo drivers and Radiohead can fuck off along with their pretentious, pompous, chin stroking fans. Oasis' music may not have evolved too much but at least it's REALLY fucking good. The first 2 albums are obviously their best but every album since has had top tunes on 'em. 'It's Gettin' Better (Man!!)', 'Go Let It Out', 'Little By Little', 'The Importance of Being Idle', 'I'm Outta Time' anyone?? The only thing Noel got wrong was saying Radiohead were amazing live. I saw 'em in Victoria Park in the summer and they were shit. I saw Oasis twice on the arena tour in Liverpool and Cardiff and they were amazing both nights.Roll on the summer for the stadium tour with it's world class supporting bill. Better than Bat For fucking Lashes at any rate!!
