Stone Roses' Mani: 'Current music scene is dull as dishwater'

Bassist has a pop at UK's crop of guitar-slingers

Tue 18 Aug, 2009

Comments (1)

Mani is right about the current state of music but I think the Roses are partly responsible. Sadly, you can trace a line from them to Oasis to today's landfill indie bands, who have the attitude and ambition but not the talent.

Sparks to release limited edition 'Morrissey' single

The band are also set to play two albums in full for London shows

Fri 27 Feb, 2009

Comments (1)

Dear NME,Today I bought the album of the year. I feel I can say this without expecting several letters saying I'm talking rubbish. The album is Kimono My House by Sparks. I bought it on the strength of the single. Every track is brilliant, although I must name 'Equator', 'Complaints', 'Amateur Hour' and 'Here In Heaven' as the best tracks and in that order. Steven Morrissey, 384 Kings Road, Stretford, Manchester.

Noel's songwriting went downhill when he stopped ripping songs off. Whatever is both a great Oasis song and a complete ripoff of How Sweet to be an Idiot by Neil Innes.
