So I recently listened to both songs back to back and they do sound extremely similar.A lot of you are right about its almost impossible without copying previous chords from another song but in this song it seems to much a like.Now I love Coldplay and I am not saying they did it intentionally because they very well could of. But what I think happened is that sometimes when you are writing a song whether it be chords, beats, or vocals you'll hear something that sounds extremely good because you might of heard it somewhere before and not really remember where you heard it. Your brain tells you that its new and it is why you like it so much and not realizing that it sounds this good because it has been done.
