The more digital music from any legal source thats gets on the Internet is brilliant, there may be some hurdles to jump yet for this to happen (eg Artist Approval for instance) but the initiative should be welcomed.SteveCEO We7

Its desperate to see an Industry who wages war on its customers, rather than work out and nuture new models which avoid this. The good news is the industry is embracing new models but this type of thing does nothing for all the hard work by the digital teams trying to change the future. Jeffn is right though legal free music access is on the increase as I know while we build We7 we continue to get more support because the fan knows what the deal is with us from day 1Steve PurdhamCEO - We7www.we7.com

UK download market hots up

Play.com and iTunes go head-to-head in DRM battle

Thu 14 Feb, 2008

Its going to be an interesting year for legal on-line music. I suspect this will be the first of many DRM free stores opening this year. They will all have a clear advantage over iTunes unless apple can also do the DRM free deals. The real competition for play.com will come from Amazon when they arrive in Europe. It will also be interesting to watch ad funded downloads services such as our own (we7.com) gain traction this year.
