Anthrax - Persistence Of Time: Wikipedia Album Entry
Persistence of Time is the fifth studio album by American heavy metal band Anthrax. The album was released in 1990, by Megaforce Worldwide/Island Entertainment.
The album includes the singles, "Got the Time" (a Joe Jackson cover) and "In My World" (which was performed by the band on an episode of Married...With Children.)
Album information
Anthrax returned to the studio in the fall of 1989 with Mark Dodson (who produced the previous album, State of Euphoria) to start work on their fifth album. Recording of the album was difficult In January 1990, the band lost more than $100,000 worth of gear and their recording studio to a large structure fire. Following their personal disaster the band moved to a different studio in late February of that year to finish work on the album.
Persistence of Time lyrical focus is the need for tolerance and peace.
This would be the last Anthrax studio album to feature Joey Belladonna on vocals.
The introduction to the song "Intro to Reality" featured dialogue from an episode of The Twilight Zone called Deaths-Head Revisited.
The beginning riff on "Belly of the Beast"(The Greater of Two Evils version featuring John Bush) is from the Celtic Frost song "Dethroned Emperor", which Anthrax themselves later did a cover of, which appeared on the EP Summer 2003 and as a bonus track on certain editions of Stomp 442.
Reception
Persistence of Time was certified gold by the RIAA. Its highest Billboard Music Chart position was #24 on the Billboard 200 chart.
New York Times (11/18/90) - "..the music carries the exhilaration of a desperate struggle."

Anthrax - Persistence Of Time Lyrics
Anthrax - Belly of The Beast Lyrics
You walk this earth without a heart
You tear the innocents soul apart
You shovel your conscience into the grave
Anthrax - One Man Stands Lyrics
The enemy is dead
I can't believe what I said
The enemy is dead
Did it only exist in our head?
Anthrax - Keep It in The Family Lyrics
Mankind, the public enemy's not the man who speaks his mind
The public enemy's the man that goes and acts blind
Searching for an answer that he'll never find
An action from reaction and you can't make a retraction
Anthrax - Intro to Reality Lyrics
{We did as we were told
They've just heard you offer the apology
For all the months that's above our times
Is that correct?
Anthrax - In My World Lyrics
They're gonna put me in jail
Man, I'm already in jail
Don't they know that my life
Is just one big cell
Anthrax - H8 Red Lyrics
So I say to you
So you look at me
What do I have to do?
And you look at me
Anthrax - Gridlock Lyrics
It's a long time, a long time comin'
You tell me how you think I should be
It's so easy
You tell me what people want from me
Anthrax - Discharge Lyrics
I wait, I hate, silence kills you like a loaded gun
My time, you waste, resolution turn your back and run
Drunk with power, your ivory tower
Never stood, never could, and around and around
Anthrax - Blood Lyrics
What do you do when something dies
A life together ended, your living a lie
When did this act become reality?
Hello conscience, do I laugh or do I cry
Anthrax - Time Lyrics
I got so much trouble on my mind
Paranoia time
I'm running out of life
Clockwise and the seconds tick away
