Apparat Organ Quartet Biography

The Apparat Organ Quartet is an Icelandic band founded in 1999 by Johann Johannsson, a noted Icelandic composer and musician. The band, which plays several different organs and uses other devices such as a vocoder, has a sound reminiscent somewhat of German band Kraftwerk. Apparat, though based in Reykjavik, has played throughout Europe and won acclaim.

They were one of many Icelandic bands documented in Ari Alexander Ergis Magnusson's 2005 film Screaming Masterpiece (Gargandi Snilld in Icelandic).
