Bruce Springsteen : The Rising
The Boss is back
Aside from 'Ghost Of Tom Joad', the last ten years haven't been Springsteen 's best. In an attempt to recall his salad days, when his earthy, working man protest songs had him pitched as the biggest (and most misunderstood) rock'n'roll star on the planet, he has gone back to what he knows, calling in the entire E Street Band. There are some good moments on...

Bruce Springsteen - The Rising: Wikipedia Album Entry
The Rising is the 12th studio album by Bruce Springsteen, released in 2002. In addition to being Springsteen's first studio album in seven years, it was also his first with the E Street Band in 18 years. It is centered around Springsteen's reflections on the September 11, 2001 attacks.
Upon its release, The Rising was a critical and commercial success, and hailed as the triumphant return of "The Boss". It debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, with first-week sales of over 520,000 copies. With this, Springsteen became the oldest person to achieve a first-week sales of over a half of a million in the U.S. The album also garnered a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 2003; although nominated for, and widely favored to take, the Album of the Year award as well, it was bested by Norah Jones' debut album Come Away with Me. Title song "The Rising" was also a Grammy nominee and recipient.
For the year 2002, The Rising was one of only two albums to receive Rolling Stone's highest rating—five stars—the other being Beck's Sea Change.
While most of the songs were written after September 11, 2001, a few of them pre-date the attacks. "My City of Ruins" was originally performed in, and written about, Asbury Park, New Jersey. After its performance by Springsteen on the post-September 11 America: A Tribute to Heroes telethon, however, the song took on an expanded meaning. "Further On (Up the Road)" was performed live in Madison Square Garden during the summer of 2000 at the end of the Springsteen-E Street Reunion Tour, and was professionally recorded, although it was not included in the HBO, DVD, or CD versions of Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band: Live in New York City. "Waitin' on a Sunny Day" was originally written in the early- or mid-1990s and played in at least one soundcheck during the Reunion Tour, and Springsteen has commented that "Nothing Man" was originally completed in 1994 but re-recorded for this album.
Helped by a substantial marketing campaign — pre-release promotion was the biggest of Springsteen's career — and the concurrent Rising Tour, The Rising went on to become Springsteen's first #1 album on the U.S. pop albums chart since his 1995 Greatest Hits album and would go on to sell about 2,100,000 copies in the United States, making it Springsteen's best-selling album of new material since 1987's Tunnel of Love.
Initial critical response to The Rising was very positive. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album has received an average score of 82, based on 21 reviews.

Bruce Springsteen - The Rising Lyrics
Bruce Springsteen - Lonesome Day Lyrics
Baby once I thought I knew
Everything I needed to know about you
Your sweet whisper, your tender touch
I didn't really know that much
Bruce Springsteen - Further On (Up The Road) Lyrics
Where the road is dark and the seed is sowed
Where the gun is cocked and the bullet's cold
Where the miles are marked in the blood and gold
I'll meet you further on up the road
Bruce Springsteen - Let's Be Friends (Skin To Skin) Lyrics
I been watchin' you a long time
Trying to figure out where and when
We been moving down that same line
Time is now maybe we could get skin to skin

Bruce Springsteen - You're Missing Lyrics
Shirts in the closet, shoes in the hall
Mama's in the kitchen, baby and all
Everything is everything
Everything is everything
Bruce Springsteen - Worlds Apart Lyrics
I hold you in my arms, that's when it starts
I seek faith in you kiss, and comfort in your heart
I taste the seed upon your lips, lay my tongue upon your scars
But when I look into your eyes, we stand worlds apart
Bruce Springsteen - Waitin' on a Sunny Day Lyrics
It's rainin' but there ain't a cloud in the sky
Must of been a tear from your eye
Everything'll be okay
Funny, thought I felt a sweet summer breeze
Bruce Springsteen - The Rising Lyrics
Can't see nothin' in front of me
Can't see nothin' coming up behind
I make my way through this darkness
I can't feel nothing but this chain that binds me
Bruce Springsteen - The Fuse Lyrics
Down at the court house they're ringin' the flag down
Long black line of cars snakin' slow through town
Red sheets snappin' on the line
With this ring will you be mine
Bruce Springsteen - Paradise Lyrics
Where the river runs to black
I take the schoolbooks from your pack
Plastics, wire and your kiss
The breath of eternity on your lips
Bruce Springsteen - Nothing Man Lyrics
I don't remember how I felt
I never thought I'd live
To read about myself
In my hometown paper
Bruce Springsteen - My City of Ruins Lyrics
There's a blood red circle
On the cold dark ground
And the rain is falling down
The church doors blown open
Bruce Springsteen - Mary's Place Lyrics
I got seven pictures of buddha
The prophet's on my tongue
Eleven angels of mercy
Sighin' over that black hole in the sun
Bruce Springsteen - Into The Fire Lyrics
The sky was falling and streaked with blood
I heard you calling me, then you disappeared into the dust
Up the stairs, into the fire
Up the stairs, into the fire
Bruce Springsteen - Empty Sky Lyrics
I woke up this morning
I could barely breathe
Just an empty impression
In the bed there you used to be
Bruce Springsteen - Countin' on a Miracle Lyrics
It's a fairytale so tragic
There's no prince to break the spell
I don't believe in the magic
But for you I will, for you I will
Bruce Springsteen - My City's In Ruins Lyrics
There is a blood red circle
On the cold dark ground
And the rain is falling down
The church door's thrown open
