Efterklang Biography

Efterklang is the name of a Danish rock group formed in December 2000.

The name 'Efterklang' comes from the Danish word for remembrance or reverberation. Though it consists of four core members, the group regularly includes three or more members for live gigs and plays orchestral and experimental rock music. Formed in Copenhagen, its four core members are: Mads Brauer, Casper Clausen, Thomas Husmer and Rasmus Stolberg. The original lineup also included Rune M?lgaard, but he has taken a more secluded role since 2007. When performing live, the core four-piece band is complemented with the addition of three to four closely-related live band members. They have released albums on the British/American record label The Leaf Label, but also have their own record label called Rumraket (the Danish word for space rocket). So far the Rumraket roster includes Grizzly Bear, amiina, Cacoy, Erik Levander, Kama Aina, Slaraffenland, Taxi Taxi!, and Canon Blue.

Efterklang has a history of working with many guest musicians on their recordings. They also produced a vast number of artistic music videos by filmmakers like Karim Ghahwagi, Tobias Stretch, Anders Morgenthaler, Carolina Melis, Jeremiah Zagar. Nan Na Hvass from Hvass&Hannibal is the mastermind behind the critically acclaimed artwork for Efterklang's One-Sided LP, Under Giant Trees, Parades, and the [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSKIl-NeZeE Mirador video] (Oct. 2007)

Efterklang's second album, Parades, released October 2007, has won several awards and nominations. Recently (April 2009) it was selected as the 38th best album released between April 2005 to April 2009 by Clash Magazine (UK). On a 2008 tour with Slaraffenland, the two groups collaborated on a joint EP under the name Slaraffenklang
