Krush Biography

Krush were a successful dance music outfit who had a major crossover hit with "House Arrest (The Beat Is Law)" in 1987. The group consisted of artists Mark Gamble, Cassius Campbell and producers Mark Brydon and Robert Gordon. Their second single "Walking On Sunshine" was a club hit in 1992. Rumour had it that the vocalist on these tracks - Ruth Joy, was Ann Saunderson the wife of Inner City's Kevin Saunderson. However these reports have been proven to be false and there is no connection whatsoever between Ruth Joy and Ann Saunderson. Mark Brydon went on to have continued success with a variety of other projects within house/dance music. The most notable of these was as the producer of The Funky Worm who had a one off Top 20 hit in the UK Singles Chart towards the Autumn of 1988 with "Hustle (To The Music)". However Brydon's biggest success came from the mid '90's onwards with vocalist Roisin Murphy as producer of critically acclaimed and commercially successful dance/electronic pop act Moloko. Robert Gordon is also well known within Sheffield's music scene and was the co-producer of Forgemasters "Track With No Name" one of the seminal tracks of the Yorkshire Bleeps and Bass scene. Gordon was also a co-founder in Warp Records until leaving the label acrimoniously in 1991. "House Arrest", a sample based dance track, was a massive hit in the UK reaching number 3 on the Gallup Top 40 music charts in December 1987/January 1988. Alongside similar releases by artists such as Bomb the Bass and S-Express, House Arrest is considered a pioneering example of British house music. It has since been licensed to numerous compilation albums.
