Massive Attack - Protection: Wikipedia Album Entry

"Protection" is single which came in two parts, in slip board jackets which fit in a unique cardboard case. The song is a collaboration between Massive Attack and Everything but the Girl singer Tracey Thorn, that appeared on Massive Attack's album Protection + 5xBonus on CD and 12" in 1994. It reached #14 in the UK Singles Chart, staying on the charts for four weeks.
The first single (or CD1 of 2) features remixes by Brian Eno, Mad Professor and J-Swift and the second single (CD2) features the album cut of the title-track, a remix by Underdog and a remix of another song ("Three") from the Protection album by Dom T & Marius De Vries.

The song was also included on Everything But the Girl's compilations The Best of and Like the Deserts Miss the Rain. The song contains a sample taken from 'The Payback' by James Brown.

Deftones' cover of The Cars' "Drive" samples the beat from "Protection."

Michel Gondry directed the music video for the track.
