Mylo Biography

b. Myles MacInnes, 1978, Isle of Skye, Scotland. Mylo created one of the surprise electronica favourites of 2004 with his debut, Destroy Rock & Roll. Born and raised in the Isle of Skye, Mylo left the remote Scottish island to study English at Oxford University. After finishing his degree, he then gained a scholarship to UCLA in Los Angeles for further study in psychology. After one year in Los Angeles his obsession with music prompted him to return to the Isle of Skye. Influenced by the 80s chart sounds he had heard pumped out by radio stations on the west coast of America, Mylo began creating his own music using a home studio set-up revolving around a Mac G4 and the ProTools software package. In 2002, Mylo won the Diesel clothing label Diesel-U-Music award, a title that saw him tour the cooler clubs in the UK to support the 2004 competition. He turned down offers from several labels to set up his own Breast Fed Recordings imprint, releasing Destroy Rock & Roll in April 2004. The album moved through full-on electro house titles such as "Drop The Pressure", "In My Arms" and "Otto's Journey", to the laidback electronica of "Valley Of The Dolls", "Guilty Of Love" and "Zenophile". The album also found room for the slick Freeform Five remix of "Musclecar". This solid, innovative and funky album was favourably compared to Röyksopp's Melody AM, Daft Punk's Homework and Air's Moon Safari, and proved to be one of the year's surprise successes. The following year he enjoyed a UK Top 5 single with "Doctor Pressure", a bootleg mix of his "Drop The Pressure" and Miami Sound Machine's "Doctor Beat".
