THERE ARE SURELY MORE rewarding ways of seeing Portishead than actually watching them play. See, once you escape from the singularly unenduring image of 30-something musos standing on a stage, the sounds they make can feed your head with infinitely more exotic pictures. If, like your Luddite hack, you couldn't get the limited-edition enhanced CD format of this live album to work,...

Portishead - Portishead: Wikipedia Album Entry
Portishead is the second album from the band of the same name, released on September 30,1997 on Go! Discs Records.
It presents a darker, grainier sound than their previous record. It received less attention from the media but managed to reach #2 on the UK Album Chart and #21 on the Billboard 200 chart. It is the longest of the band's three albums.
The album's sound differed from Dummy, the main differences being that much of the music was composed and recorded by the band, then pressed to vinyl. This created a grainy, harsher sound. Three singles, "All Mine, "Over" and "Only You" were released, the first one achieving a Top 10 placing in the UK.
"All Mine" was later covered by Tom Jones and The Divine Comedy,
"Mourning Air" had previously appeared on The Help Album
"Only You" was later released in a promotional French language lyrics version.

Portishead - Portishead Lyrics
Portishead - All Mine Lyrics
All the stars may shine a-bright
All the clouds may be white
But when you smile
Oh how I feel so good that I can hardly wait
Portishead - Undenied Lyrics
Your softly spoken words
Release my whole desire
Undenied totally
Portishead - Seven Months Lyrics
How can I forget you
Disregard how I feel
Silently listen
To the words I can't see
Portishead - Over Lyrics
I can't hold this state anymore
Understand me anymore
To tread this fantasy, openly
Portishead - Only You Lyrics
Whip, whip, whip
Whip, whip, whip
Whip, whip, whip
Whip like that
Portishead - Mourning Air Lyrics
Did I see a moment with you?
In a half lit world
I'm frightened to believe
But I must try, if I stumble, if I fall
Portishead - Humming Lyrics
Closer, no hesitation
Give me, all that you have
'Cus it's been so long, that I can't explain
Portishead - Half Day Closing Lyrics
In the days of golden days
When everybody knew what they wanted
It ain't here today
Portishead - Elysium Lyrics
No one has said what the truth should be
And no one decided that I'd feel this way
If you felt as I, would you betray yourself?
Portishead - Cowboys Lyrics
Did you sweep us far from your feet?
Reset in stone this stark belief
Salted eyes and a sordid dye
Too many years
Portishead - Western Eyes Lyrics
Forgotten throes at another's lie
The heart of love is their only light
Faithless greeds consolidating
Holding down sweet charity
