Soon after forming they began to play gigs around London at venues including Dublin Castle, The Barfly and The Hope And Anchor. They had managed to attract the attention of several record labels, including Fierce Panda Records, who released their single "Elasticity" via their Club Fandango imprint in December 2007 and Virgin Records to whom they would eventually sign.
Their first single on Virgin Records, "Dust," which was released on 19 May 2008, and reached #29 in the UK singles chart. Their debut album was released 2 June 2008 and was produced by Andy Green (Keane, KT Tunstall).
In September 2008 the band parted company with Virgin Records, the band stated on their official Facebook page:
"We recently parted company with Virgin and so unfortunately have had to tie up a few things - including the tour"
In February 2009 on Royworld's MySpace page, a link was posted to an unsigned band from London by the name of [http://www.publicassembly.co.uk/ PUBLIC_ASSEMBLY].
In mid march another post on Royworld's Myspace page linked to "Public Assembly" 5 Demo's have been released on the myspace, 3 full length songs and 2 that are cut short. Since the two newest demos have been uploaded "Cameraman" has been taken down.

In mid April a post on Royworld's facebook page linked fans to new myspace pages, one of Public Assembly as above, and one to an existing group called We Got Wires. This suggests that Royworld are no longer playing together in the line-up as before.
