Nowadays Sia Furler is probably best known for her first (and only) UK Number One, 2011’s David Guetta collaboration ‘Titanium’ – or her much-yelled anthem ‘Chandelier’ – but her initial success in the UK came at the turn of the millennium with her top 10 debut single ‘Taken For Granted’, followed by her 2001 collaboration with trip-hop duo Zero 7, ‘Destiny’. It was with her fifth solo album ‘We Are Born’ that Sia first saw mainstream success in her home country of Australia, peaking at Number Two, but that first Guetta collaboration was responsible for her international breakout. Her next album, 2014’s ‘1000 Forms Of Fear’ went on to sell 1m copies worldwide and she’s since had the opportunity to collaborate with Kendrick Lamar, Eminem and disco legend Giorgio Moroder. But since reaching levels of global fame, Sia has chosen not to show her face, either by facing away from audiences or by wearing large wigs – and in her videos she is often portrayed by a child dancer, Maddie Ziegler.
