With the exception of vocalist Marcela Bovio, who had appeared on Ayreon's album The Human Equation, Lucassen selected little-known musicians to form this band. He finally left the band in 2007, to make them continue their own career as he had planned since the creation.
In August 2008, it was announced that Stream of Passion had signed to Napalm Records, with Lucassen no longer a part of the band. Through Napalm they released their second studio album The Flame Within in 2009. The band released their third studio album, Darker Days, in June 2011.
