The Nuns

The Nuns were formed in 2005, with memebers coming from several reasonably sized local bands. Those being "Stolen Thunder," "Imodium" and "Skiver."

It started out with Tom Dootson, Scott Lyon, James Edmondson and Simon Haines coming together to create some new music. Using previous tracks played in "Skiver," they performed at the Wigan Under 18's battle of the bands, where after being together for just under 4 weeks, came first place and won the oppertunity to record at a local studio.

With this oppertunity they went down and recorded 3 tracks, which is now known as "The Box Sessions." It took a long time for the tracks to arrive though, and so it was re-recorded again there. The re-recorded tracks were only basic as they were all mixed in about 2 hours. They were put on the website for people to hear, and these went on to create quite an impression. Some few months later, the original recordings were sent back to the band, mixed properly, and these are what now form "The Box Sessions."

The band went on to do bigger and bigger gigs, playing at HMV and Kerrang unsigned showcases.

There was talk with a major label round about this point but so far, nothing has really been done about it.

Soon after, it was realised that Simon (Drummer) would no longer be able to continue with the band as he was moving to Edinborough, and so the search for new drummers kicked in. Chris Hyde was used as a temporary drummer, but he had other commitments in Leeds and therefore couldn't stay with the band residentially.

That was when Lim McIntyre came into the equation. Met at the Lux club in Wigan way back when the band were first starting, it was realised that he would be the drummer that the band needed.

He was in the bands "Jean is Dead" and "Branded a fool," however he quit Jean is Dead on the day he was asked to play for the Nuns.

Now The Nuns have been asked to play again at the HMV Showcase, and look around for larger gigs. They have quite a large local fanbase in the Wigan area and are known well throughout the borough.

Just listen to the music and decide whether you're a Nun with us.
