Album Review: The Strokes - Angles (Rough Trade)
Burdened with so much expectation, it’s hardly surprising that the New Yorkers’ return isn’t the masterpiece we’d hoped for – but wait, it’s still one damn fine album

The Strokes - Is This It: Wikipedia Album Entry
Is This It is the debut album by the American alternative rock band The Strokes, released in 2001. The Strokes were the first band to break into the mainstream as part of the turn-of-the-millennium garage rock revival trend. Hyped by the music press for their melodic pop-influenced garage rock sound on both sides of the Atlantic, The Strokes' auspicious debut garnered them critical and popular attention. Moreover, Is This It's more famous songs "The Modern Age", "Last Nite", "Hard to Explain" and "Someday" won the band much respect and helped the album reach number two in the United Kingdom and number thirty-three in the United States. This album is featured in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

The Strokes - Is This It Lyrics
The Strokes - Is This It Lyrics
Can't you see I'm trying, I don't even like it
I just lied to get to your apartment
Now I'm staying there just for a while
I can't think 'cause I'm just way too tired
The Strokes - Hard To Explain Lyrics
Was an honest man
Asked me for the phone
Tried to take control
Oh, I don't see it that way
The Strokes - Last Nite Lyrics
Last night, she said
"Oh, baby, I feel so down
Oh it turns me off
When I feel left out"
The Strokes - Alone Together Lyrics
No choice now, it's too late
Let him go, he gave up, I gave up
Lisa said, "Take time for me"
Dropping him down to his knees, ah, chest down
The Strokes - Someday Lyrics
In many ways, they'll miss the good old days
Someday, someday
Yeah, it hurts to say, but I want you to stay
Sometimes, sometimes
The Strokes - Soma Lyrics
Soma is what they would take when hard times opened their eyes
Saw pain in a new way, high stakes for a few names
Racing against sun beams, losing against their dreams
In your eyes
The Strokes - The Modern Age Lyrics
Up on a hill, here's where we begin
This little story, a long time ago
Stop to pretend, stop pretending
It seems this game is simply never-ending
The Strokes - Take It Or Leave It Lyrics
Leave me alone
I'm in control, I'm in control
And girls act too much, and boys act too tough
Enough is enough
The Strokes - Trying Your Luck Lyrics
You said, "You couldn't stay"
You've seen it all before, I know
And sold you on their way
Oh honey that's okay
The Strokes - Barely Legal Lyrics
I didn't take no shortcuts
I spent the money that I saved up
Aw mama runnin' out of luck
Well like my sister, don't give a fuck
The Strokes - When It Started Lyrics
Won't decide but he won't debate
Said, "Thanks my friend," thought it was too late
Oh why, oh why I don't know
