The Vita Ruins

The Vita Ruins are an indie rock band from Washington, DC formed in December 2005. Although still a young band in this incarnation, members Tim Kratzer (Vocals, Guitars, Keys), Greg Balleza (Guitars, Keys, Vocals) and Dave Phillips (Bass) have been playing in bands together in one form or another since the year 2000 sprouting from friendships that go back as far as 1991. It wasn't until the addition of newcomer Mike Seaner (drums) that they had all the ingredients necessary to bring together some of their greatest influences from each side of the Atlantic to create a truly unique sound of their own: North American Indie Rock, British Rock and Electronica.

The band's first EP "Thanks For Your Concern (but we're okay)" was recorded during the early parts of Summer 2006 while mixing and mastering was finished by the very beginning of July. The resulting sound of the EP was a satisfying one many thought not possible: soothing and atmospheric yet upbeat, pounding and very danceable at the same time.

Shortly after the recording of the EP it was already creating buzz around the DC area by bloggers and other individuals which eventually got them a full EP review on DCist.com, all before even playing their first show. If the results thus far are any indication as to what this band is about to do, the future looks very promising.

After beginning a successful recording career in the 1960s, by the end of the decade, Streisand ventured into film starring in the critically acclaimed Funny Girl, for which she won the Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. Other notable films include The Owl and the Pussycat, The Way We Were and A Star Is Born for which she received her second Academy Award for composing the music to the picture's main song, "Evergreen".
