The War On Drugs Biography

The War on Drugs is an American indie rock band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, formed in 2005 by Adam Granduciel (vocals, guitar) and Kurt Vile (electric guitar, various instruments). The band currently consists of Granduciel, alongside David Hartley (bass, guitar), Robbie Bennett (keyboards, guitar) and Steven Urgo (drums, percussion).

Reviewers of the band's music make note of its Americana overtones. The group's sound has been described as influenced by Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, and My Bloody Valentine.

The War on Drugs released their debut studio album, Wagonwheel Blues in 2008. Its follow-up, Slave Ambient, was released in 2011 to critical acclaim.
