WhiskyCats Biography

Formed in Manchester in April 2004, they have created a loyal following of all ages, from school kids to grandparents. Their MySpace site has approximately 100 new fans joining every day, achieved by playing many different venues throughout the country. These include:

Manchester - Academy 3, Northampton - Picturedrome
Liverpool - Zanzibar, London - Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club
Oxford - The Zodiac, Manchester - Roadhouse, York - Fibbers, Leicester - The Shed, Birmingham - Barfly, Islington - Carling Academy, Bristol - The Fleece, Shoreditch - Cargo, Leeds - Faversham, Oldham - The Castle, Liverpool - Academy 2, Newcastle - The Cluny, Brighton - Freebutt, Wakefield - Escobar, Preston - 12 Bar, Carlisle - The Brickyard

Wherever they go, Whiskycats pull a crowd and no-one goes home disappointed. Their infectious mirth and vibrancy means they are frequently asked to return to venues and have supported some well respected bands and musicians, including:

Arctic Monkeys, Mystery Jets, Nitin Sawhney, The Proclaimers, Gilles Peterson, The Long Blondes, Caged Baby, Arrested Development, Keith, The Zutons, The Delays, Misty's Big Adventure, The Aeroplanes, Little Flames

The band have released one single, In This Chair, on their own label Medical Records and are about to release a new EP image n all the people. Both recordings have been accompanied by well-received tours, the most recent due to culminate with a headline gig at Manchester's Academy 3 on July 7.

"Everybody's Falling Out" the lead track from the forthcoming EP has been building radio support in Manchester with numerous XFM plays by DJs Clint Boon and Michelle Mullane to name but two. Interviews undertaken this week with XFM and other stations including BBC 6music, Manchester's Key 103 and a number of other leading independents means this much anticipated release is bound to catch a few ears.

After a successful appearance at the free summer festival Fruitstock last year, Whiskycats have been asked to re-appear this year, supporting Arrested Development in front of an expected 80,000 crowd.

With another single release due in September, and an accompanying tour around student's unions during fresher's week, Whiskycats hope to keep people dancing, singing and smiling all the way 'til winter.
