The decade that changed everything. It seems strange to recall now, but music award ceremonies were akin to Days Of The Dead, with the same old creaking cadavers exhumed on an annual basis so that they could pick up meaningless gongs (just how many awards do Sting and Annie Lennox actually need ferchrissakes?). And so we decided to reinvent the NME Awards as the Brats (see what we did there?) and literally give the finger to the established music industry. The rest, as they say, is history…
